Remington knives with an etch

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Some awful nice knives on this page. ::tu:: ::tu::

A fairly scarce R1183 swell center jack with a partial etch, I find the size and placement of the etch interesting, fairly small etch.

You will see that small etch on the saber ground blades. Nice knife. The bear head is is less common than the double bolster pattern. Good find.

I have the double bolstered model but as Keith mentioned, the bareheaded version is very rare. Much tougher to find. Great knife!! John

Thank you John, I thought it might be a rare pattern when I could not find any other examples with an internet search.

Keith, Doglegg, thanks for the comments and input. ::tu::
