Schrade 498
I have a Schrade model 498 (fixed blade). Would some one know what years it was manuf.? I've had it approx. 30 years. Thanks

The 498 is part of the 49er series of fixed blades introduced in 1973. The 498 pattern was the longest running pattern in the series. They last appear in the Schrade Catalogs in 1979. The pattern came in both leather ring handles and a Staglon handled version. Both were discontinued in 1979. The MSRP for the Staglon handle was $18.00 in 1979 and the leather handled one sold for $19.50 that year.
