Steve, it does have a cerakote finish but the cylinder is blued. It' matte but pleasing. It looks to be evenly applied. I've never owned a coated gun so it'll be interesting to see how it holds up. It's a Ruger after all so I think it'll be good.

What is that Wrangler? Is it just a take on the venerable old Single-Six or is it an entirely new design? I can't tell just by looking at the picture.

It's a new design with an alloy frame, steel barrel and cylinder and all MIM internals. It's offered in fixed sight only and has a Cerakote spray on finish. It's pretty much a utility gun.

It was just a matter of time, and this is just the start of a wave of anti-Second Amendment bills and other actions coming our way from the liberals in congress. I received this alert today from the TSRA.

This passed the Pelosi-run House of Representatives today. They are determined to make criminals out of law-abiding citizens and neuter the Second Amendment. Contact your senators now, before it’s too late to stop it in the Senate!HR 8 and HR 1446 have passed the US House of Representatives.
HR 8 requires universal background checks for all transfers outside your immediate family, and HR 1446 enhances the scope of those background checks; it changes the law from a "Shall Issue" to a "May Issue" for the transfer of a weapon by the FBI.
By way of example, right now the FBI is required to give your FFL a response and that has to happen within a maximum of 3 days for a background check. Under this heinous bill, an FFL could wait up to a month to hear back from the FBI... or NOT AT ALL! As I understand it, there's no recourse for the buyer; you cannot contact the FBI to make an appeal directly. Therefore, you would have very limited recourse if this happens to you.

For the first time in my life, I reached out to both of our state's senators (one Republican the other Democrat) asking that they do every thing in their power to kill those two bills (or are they resolutions. I know nothing about politics).Mumbleypeg wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 3:59 am It was just a matter of time, and this is just the start of a wave of anti-Second Amendment bills and other actions coming our way from the liberals in congress. That’s awesome! My oldest two boys (almost 16 and 14) each have one. The oldest has the bronze finish, and the middle boy has the black one. They both shoot well and feel much more substantial than you’d think they would for their price point. They’re much better made than their competition from what I’ve seen.
I’ve come to like cerekote. I have it on my shockwave, and a guy at church had it put on an AR he built. If done right it looks good, it’s tough, and you don’t have to worry about surface rust or finger prints.

Just ran across a pic of one I used to shoot Bullseye with. A S&W 28 converted to .45 acp. Was a sweet gun but now gone.

Re: Guns & Gun Related Stuff
I was at a gunshow about 70 miles from home today and saw several things that I thought were shocking. First, ammo and component asking prices even further through the roof than a month ago. Asking price for a 1000 brick of primers was $225. 223 Rem ammo was marked $200 for a box of 100 rounds. Second, I was standing and talking to a dealer who has a lot of collectable ammo in original boxes from the 1930s-1970s. A fellow came up to his table and picked out a box of old Winchester rifle ammo in a nice old collectable box and shoved a $100 into the dealers hand for the box of 20 rounds. That's right, $5 a shot. When he left I asked the dealer about the sale and he said it is common now, people buying pristine boxes of old collectable ammo with the intention of shooting it. And the sad thing he said, when they have shot it up, they throw the box away too. Collectable ammo in old Winchester, Peters, UMC and other boxes is disappearing because of this insanity. Imagine what that will do to the prices of remaining old collectable boxes of ammunition.

Simple answer.
Covid and our new socialist president who wants to ban guns and ammo in the U.S.

Re: Guns & Gun Related Stuff
I'll agree with the issue of the covid and the liberal socialist gov't. being some of the reason for shortages. But there are also a few other considerations that I feel are contributing to the shortages and prices being at unreal levels. I may not have the figures exact but here goes: Information tells us there are at least 7 million new gun owners in this country. With every new gun there needs to be several boxes of ammo, especially for new folks just learning. That would seem to stress the availability of firearms and ammunition. The shortages then causes reloaders to stock pile components and every thing has gone nuts!
I have a need for some more ammunition called 6.5 Grendel, it is not in stock according to the suppliers such as Midway and others, it is "Temporarily Unavailable".
Most high power/center-fire ammo is well over a dollar per round but not in stock and a some, much more in certain calibers. My beloved old reliable .243 ammo is listed from $1.15 to over $3.00 per round, depending on maker and bullet type. Plain old 22 LR rounds are being sold for $0.39 per round and probably the most popular round nowadays is the 9mm Luger, anywhere from $0.70 to $3.55 per round on Midway's site, also unavailable.
I haven't reloaded in years but still have all the necessary equipment and components for 30-06,.308 and .243. Don't have the 6.5 Grendel dies
or for that matter any brass, yet. The ammo I do have is all steel cases.

TF, I also agree with your post. But I believe covid and our socialist government is the reason for the 7 million new gun owners. Along with the violence in our streets by domestic terrorists groups like BLM and antifa.treefarmer wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 3:03 am I'll agree with the issue of the covid and the liberal socialist gov't. being some of the reason for shortages. Amazing. I don't hunt anymore, but i did a quick look around online at some of the gun shops i used to buy ammo from to see a comparison. I can buy .22 long rifle ammo for 12 cents US per round, compared to you paying 39 cents per round.

Re: Guns & Gun Related Stuff
I agree with the reasons given by others. In the past when legislation was passed restricting Second Amendment rights, such as the ban on AR15 style rifles (ignorantly called “assault weapons” by many politicians and “news” media), the laws passed simply forbade new sales of the specified items. If someone already owned the item, their ownership of it was not prohibited. Therefore every time the threat of an anti-gun politician or movement appears to be gaining traction, people fear their rights will be infringed and therefore sales of guns and ammunition increase substantially.
The last prior situation of this nature was during the Obama administration. Now it’s happening again. But people haven’t yet realized this time is different. Biden and the Democrat Party leadership in Congress not only want to stop new sales, they want to confiscate firearms from those who already own them. The first step already underway (and passed by the House of Representatives this week), restricts currently legal firearms transfers between individuals, and sets up the mechanism for denial of future purchases from firearms retailers by refusing to grant clearance by the FBI for the purchase, with no requirement to explain why the sale was denied. In fact if passed there will be is no requirement for the government to even respond to the request at all. They may just ignore it, in essence stopping the sale without any requirement to explain why.
But these are just preliminary skirmishes, the prelude to their ultimate goal which is registration and ultimately confiscation of all firearms from citizens.
Be vigilant!

Ken, i don't want to turn this thread into a political thread, but i don't know enough of how your political system works, but i would assume the Democrats would not have much trouble getting all these new gun laws through now that they control[ or have the numbers to control] both houses. One of the reasons i don't hunt anymore is all the gun laws that were introduced over here, it is just so difficult to be a hunter or range shooter now.

Couldn't find a ramrod for a .31 cal. black powder vest pocket so I went to a local hardware store and picked up a piece of 1/4" dowel, and it works perfectly. Made both empty and loaded marks on the dowel per instructions. I enjoy shooting BP pistols and already had everything else necessary. Traditions, made in Connecticut. Now I need to work on my accuracy . . .
