R3843 Real Or Reproduction
This Remington R3843 popped up on eBay last week for a very low BIN. Arrived today and surprised it had a case with it as seller never mentioned it having one, it did explain the verdigris shown in his pictures. Knife appears new, never used, I took pictures without even wiping it down as I wanted to record the condition as found.
It appears to me to be an original knife but I've been fooled before, has the backwards N's and a milled center liner, any input on originality is greatly appreciated.

Don't know if it's original or not but it sure is pretty!
Even if it's not, if you're happy with it all's good.
Somebody will be along who will know for sure.

I am not a Remington collector but i can say that your knife does not look like the Camillus made reproductions. However an experienced Remington collector is needed to confirm.

I'm no expert, but I could swear all the Camillus repros have Delrin handles. Looks real to me!

Nothing in your photos causes concern as to its authenticity. It appears you did extremely well. Congratulations. John

Thank you John, any idea if the sheath is original to the knife, it just does not look 80 or more years old.pearlroosterman wrote: ↑Tue Mar 16, 2021 9:42 pm Nothing in your photos causes concern as to its authenticity. It appears you did extremely well. Congratulations. John

That is true on the old originals. To my knowledge none of the reproductions were backwards.

JohnR, the sheath is new but if it fits, a nice addition. Take care. John

It's the Russian version!
Just joking, but watch out for the verdigris because it will cause pitting and dulling of metal surfaces. Great looking Scout!
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

I am wondering, was the backward "N" a form of copyright protection? Kinda like the old GI Joes with the thumbnails on the wrong side of the thumb.

Re: R3843 Real Or Reproduction
I would not be concerned about the backward N as the same thing can be found on other Remington knives. One for instance is the Wayne Feeds equal end.

Re: R3843 Real Or Reproduction
The backwards N is a mistake that is on the majority of those knives. A correct N is a harder knife to find. I've probably owned 10 of them and only had one with a correct N. Very nice knife John, and I'd agree that the sheath isn't original.
