I didn't know Schrade did a Ducks Unlimited version of the Switch-It. Given they did DU versions of practically everything else, it doesn't really surprise me. While most NOS Schrades I buy go in the cabinet, the SW-1 became an EDC. They didn't seem to sell that well, and you can easily find a NOS example cheaper than they were nearly 20 years ago new. Some days (like when I'm carrying a fixed blade on my belt on the right side), I like to carry left-handed (which I am left-handed); EDC normally right-handed. And, when in use,the clip can be turned to where it lays along the spine of the knife, which makes it more comfortable for heavy cuts. All without those horrible tiny Torx screws that strip or get lost easily. It's also really light, so it carries like a dream. I tried the Lake and Walker about a week, and I didn't like it--namely the thumb stud was too small, and I didn't like the plastic overlay sort of framelock/linerlock hybrid. But, I still carry the SW-1 off and on. It has the same serrations, a lockback, is a bit bigger, and has a usable thumb stud.

Your High Carbon Steel (Sears by Camillus) is definitely in better shape than mine. Perfect shape to be a user.


Seems a lot of those Canadian Navy knives are found in states that border Canada. Mine came from MI. Albeit, the backspring on the sheepsfoot blade is broken right behind the back center rivet, which causes a lot of wobble on the spike.

I picked these two up the other day. The Frontier, just because and the Barlow because of all the memories that goes with Barlows and Childhood. They both needed some cleaning, but both turned out nicely.

The Frontier, an Imperial Frontier 41P4 3-1/4 in pen knife with a Clip master blade and pen secondary. It has great snap but I still need to clean up the edge of the Clip blade. I have a white handle one so I figured I would add a black handle one. Plus, these were only produced from 1976 to 1983.

This is the Providence Cutlery Co. Barlow. It had some rust on the blades and both blades were stiff. But the usual cleaning regiment, and tuffglide on the joints and both blades have good snap now. Polished the blades and bolsters and she looks good. I don't believe this knife was used much. The blade edge doesn't look like it has been on a stone. Another to add to my Barlow Box and EDC Family.

I have a Prov. Cut Co. Barlow just like that Smitty. It's actually a pretty good little knife, that sees a lot of pocket time..

This little Italian-made hawkbill had thought to have been lost for good in the field three years ago, but I just now found it stuck under the armrest in the car while trying to fix the loose back seat cupholder/armrest while waiting for my folks at a doctors appointment.

It may be carbon steel with iron liners and pins, but there's just a few spots of rust that should clear off without leaving pitting.

Hey Cody, Glad you came across your long lost Hawkbill. Amazing how we think we've lost something, and years later, "Well, I'll be darned, there it is".
