1975 - 3 5/8" - Boker USA - 1778 Congress - from the "Great American Story Knives" series.
"Remember the Maine" shield & "Rise to World Power" blade etch.

I imagine most of you have run across this knife series before but they are new to me. Seems to be in pretty good condition. :)

Thanks for looking friends! ::handshake::
I haven't seen that one before. I have a Moose from this series (mainly because NIB, it was like $25, and it's the first reasonably priced older BOKER I've seen locally), but that's it. Boker did a TON of them from '75-77.
Hi Cody,

The series was 24 knives made from like 74 - 78. Actually it was two series. Average value now is from $20 up to $35. The one I just bought was €24 or about $30 shipped. Not the best price but ok. First Boker USA I have ever come across over here so I wanted it just to see how good the quality is. Here is a "Series List" link if anyone is interested in the series. There are mistakes in the list though. My knife for example is listed as a large swell end Jack but that is not correct. ::hmm:: The list says my knife was made in 75. The seller said it was from 74 so who knows. I'll go with the list and believe it's from 75. ::nod::

Anyways, here is the link.: http://www.knifecollector.net/BokerStoryKnives.html ::handshake:: ::tu::

While the pile stamp wasn't shown well (which should say "SL10 440SS USA"; I noticed the carbon steel backsprings, which seems to be a tale-tale with Camillus if equipped with stainless blades. I am gonna use and carry this one. A big selling point for me is the fully serrated long spey blade. I have a Case that has a part serrated main blade, but not the spey. The main blade is the one I normally use. And these don't show up that often it seems. I couldn't resist the price either. $15 is about the cost of a larger Rough Ryder these days.

Hey Cody, Cool find. I picked one up a while back still mint in the pack. Mine has the smooth black composite handles, polished blades of 440 stainless and is made by United Cutlery. They are great EDC and the same size as a Case 07 Mini Trapper.

I've seen about three different variations of this knife, but not sure if they were all made by United. One has composite handles but has a slight pebbly finish (similar to yours) and has what I call a frosty or matte finish on the blades. (Not highly polished) I've seen some that have a Smooth black composite handles with highly polished blades of 440 stainless and has no origin marks on it. I've also seen the Smooth Handles with matte finish blades made of 440 stainless, but would also have China as a tang stamp. I've also heard of people finding them with varying degrees of snap. Be sure to post when you get it.

I have been putting off getting a battery put into my Victorinox Garrison watch for going on a year now. It's the cheapest Victorinox watch I found, and it also happened to be a watch Roush Fenway Racing gave to an employee. The rubber strap had been removed, and had been replaced with a cheap and flimsy woven band that fell apart in less than a year as my EDC watch. I wanted a NATO type band. My jeweler said that he'd have to special order a NATO-type band, and I asked him that if it would be OK if I just ordered one on my own; to which he agreed. Well, I finally remembered to do so.

And thanks to Jerry for helping me figure out the easiest way to deal with websites that use WEBP images (which I can't upload to most websites; despite the fact most smaller e-commerce retailers seem to use them these days) is to just take a screenshot and crop it down.

I chose black with green stitching, as it complemented the black dial/face with the green Roush logo. And black is more formal than olive-drab green, which was what was on the watch originally; and what I was originally gonna get.
2021-02-03 (2).png

And, some other stuff.

First of all, a knife made exclusively for CountyComm, whom I bought the knife from. Been curious about it for a long time--ever since it debuted in 2019. While they call it the "Stub", it is essentially the same as the Boker DW1, except it has a D2 Tool Steel blade (instead of AUS-8), titanium lock/frame and clip (instead of steel), and the handles are smooth G-10, in bright orange. It's 1 3/4 closed with a 1" blade. I was wondering if I could even do anything with it. It's made basically as a form of box cutter. I'm wearing it as a form of "neck knife" clipped to the neck of my shirt, so it won't hang like a fixed blade on a neck lanyard.

2021-02-03 (1).png
Plastic hemostats at $1 each, so I bought 4. I have metal surgical hemostats, that are great for clamping, yanking, and holding any small stuff. But, they leave tool marks on most plastics.
2021-02-03 (3).png

Maratac "mini trauma shears". While I assembled rather large first aid kits in tackleboxes for all the vehicles set up for "anything that can happen if I roll up on an accident scene" (mostly geared towards bleeding, but are soon to include clotting powder, SAM splints, and CPR shields) But, the little first aid kits I throw in my pack when working fences are more geared towards me getting cut when caught up in a thorn bush, or when I screw up and accidentally cut myself on barbed wire or working with my knife. The biggest is in an old BSA first aid tin from the '50s, and it really can't hold much. Most are the pocket-size Johnson & Johnson "travel" kits that are basically 5-6 Bandaids and two gauze pads--or usually 10-12 Bandaids and 4-5 gauze pads after I'm done. But, I may be better off building a bigger kit that hooks onto the MOLLE attachment of my pack, so that I'm ready for incidents involving chainsaws or hunting accidents. These scissors are for those smaller kits--I chose the glow in the dark version on the right.

Good question. ::hmm:: I would like to carry it..., may have to buy a second one, one to carry & one to look at.

Yes, the package is at Mom's. I just called and told her that the Jack knife is on it's way. There is also a Case Stockman of mine from Sanders knives at her house. She said she's getting a pretty good collection going & that she needed a show case for them all. I said when she gets tired of looking at them she could send them to me. She said she'd get tired of dusting them before she got tired of looking at them.

A shipping date was not mentioned & I didn't want to push my luck by asking. Probably around Easter time is my best guess. ::shrug::

JP, Smiitty, Floyd..., Thanks Gentlemen! Appreciate it! ::tu:: ::nod::

This will be the first Western I get my hands on. I'm really looking forward to it. ::nod:: Could be somewhat of a wait though. ::doh:: I really like the look of jack knives and with it being made by Camillus I expect it to be a nice one. Only have one Jack knife so far so I'm pretty stoked about this purchase. ::nod:: I can tell just by writing this post, that the waiting for mom to mail it to me is going to be torture.

I looked it up myself earlier and found this. It's a very tough tropical hardwood often used as a substitute for ebony, as it is less restricted, and somewhat more plentiful .

Stamped "PIT" & "INOX" : INOX is a type of steel. Not sure if PIT is a brand. ::shrug::
It has horn handles and appears to be a nice little (3,15") knife. I wanted a knife with a pointed punch type blade for pushing paracord through the small holes on clips like this.
This one should "GIT-R-DONE"! ::tu:: :D
