Knife identification

Post by Calvinc5 »

Hello I can't figure out any information on this knife I found at the beach. It doesn't have any logos or stamps on it. I would like to restore this knife because I think it's very cool. But I was hoping to find more information on it before I begin. I'm no expert on knives but I do believe this is Damascus steel. Any help with what this is or how I should go about restoring it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

To me, it looks like an inexpensive knife probably made in Pakistan.

Looks cool but I would agree thats its most likely an inexpensive knife made in Pakistan. Pakistan is producing lots of Damascus blades.

Lots of fake Damascus blades being produced by using acid to etch plain old steel.

Although it does resemble a lot of the current crop of Damascus blades coming out of Pakistan of late, the file work on the back spring and the liners seems to be of much better quality. The handles almost look to be made of lapis lazuli which is far from being a material used in Pakistani knives. I would agree that the use of Allen screws and a brass thumb nut are not the normal parts used in custom knives.I'm still on the fence with this one.
As to cleaning it up;I wouldn't try using anything abrasive to clean it as it would likely destroy the contrast of the Damascus.Maybe a lead pencil to clean off the rust and a good oiling.I kind of like it.
