bent liner on case folding hunter

Post by bjh »

I have a nice stag handled case 2 blade folding hunter with the back side liner and scale bent in far enough to bear on the main blade when closed pushing it to the center liner. It is bent in where the point on the belly of the knife is. I tried gently forcing it out but it doesn't stay. I am afraid the stag may break if I push far enough to bend back in place. Anyone know how to correct this without taking it completely apart? thanks for any help.

Can you post a picture of the problem?
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Yes, a picture would show the problem better. I have fixed one similar to this by taking the knife apart, making a new identical liner to put inside the bent one, and pinning it back together. But I dont think this is something you would want to do with a stag handled Case. Is it an old knife or a new one? Sending it back to Case for repair may be an option also, depending on age.

That is according to how old it is....

IF.... they have parts they will fix it.... BUT, just like shields, if they no longer have parts, they can't.

NOW.... I don't know if they would be willing to take it apart and straighten the liner and clean, reassemble and send it back. They might...(??)

We can speculate all day but there’s only one way to find out - ask Case. From what I’ve read Case is still way behind due to Covid.
