STRANGE TANG STAMP. Help ?
Wondering if anyone can recognize this stamp. Partially obscured. 3-7/16" barehead, brass liners, iron bolsters, pick bone. Appears American made.
Was there a VOOS BROS. in addition to VOOS Cutlery ? Any help appreciated. J.O'.

Re: STRANGE TANG STAMP. Help ?
PEANUT: I think it's a flag. Appears not so much worn as lightly stamped. No vestiges of a country below the flag. Pre-1891?
Thanks, J.O'.

Re: STRANGE TANG STAMP. Help ?
Goins' states Ernest Voos 1879-1919, Voos USA 1919-1981, I think the knife in question is the latter. I have owned a few of them, they don't seem really popular among collectors, I didn't pay a lot for them or get a lot when I sold them. Voos often has an arrow going through the word Voos.

Thanks GUNSIL: I have a few VOOS with the arrow. Always thought they're underrated . This one is very well made. Nice bone, tight and snappy.
Was there anything on VOOS BROS. ? I think I've heard or seen that somewhere. ?? J.O'.

Re: STRANGE TANG STAMP. Help ?
Neither Goins nor Levine list any Voos Bros, so I really don't know. Can you see Voos for sure? I looked in Goins for any company that started with a V followed by Bros or Brothers, and there was only one in France. (Luckily there are only a few pages of makers names beginning with V)

Re: STRANGE TANG STAMP. Help ?
I really can't tell if it's a V or a Y. Just guessing. Nothing after that and the B ( followed by R ?) below. Real head scratcher. Thanks for trying. J.O'.

Re: STRANGE TANG STAMP. Help ?
Ys are even easier to search than Vs. There was a Yale Brand, circa 1930s, I wonder if that's it? FBI could probably raise letters if you have the connections. (LOL)

I do not think it is a Voos,I believe it’s Yale Brand. That’s what it looks like to me..
