Any Train Enthusiasts Out There?

I do not get to drive the train,
Or even ring the bell,
But let the damn thing jump the track,
And see who catches hell.

My brother took these pictures while helping to clean up this mess. Derailment in the Cumberland Yards.

These are some photos of a major train crash in the state where i live, it was 51 years ago and huge news when in was a kid.

My original 1953 Transcontinental Schedule of the "California Zephyr" Diesel locomotives.
San Francisco to Chicago and return.
The California Zephyr featured the "Vista-Dome Observation-Lounge Cars." Comfort and Convenience at its best.
Breakfast as low as $1.10; Luncheons from $2.10 & up; select dinners from $2.10 up.

Goods train crossing over a river. This is the highest railway bridge in this state, at 180 feet above the river.

I thought they were both cool, Ike. Interesting how all you hear about here in the Mid-Atlantic is B&O, Southern, Norfolk & Western, some RF&P, Western Maryland and Chessie but not so much of C&O. Maybe it's just where I have lived?

I find that odd as well, C & O was one of the "big boys" for many years and you are in the area.

The area in which I live was dominated for many years by Illinois Central and Missouri Pacific. The 1st streamliner from IC was the Green Diamond. Introduced in 1940, it serviced the Chicago-St Louis route. MoPac streamliners were known as Eagles.
