Thanks guys. She’s almost 3. Her daddy (my buddy) is no longer with us and her momma dog is getting up there. I hadn’t planned on keeping any pups out of her litter, didn’t want any of them. But one day while she was still nursing, she picked me. She would ignore her momma and litter mates and everyone else and stuck with me.

When people came to pick a pup, she wouldn’t have anything to do with them. We even had her sold and when the people came to get her she wouldn’t act right and they took another pup instead. Finally, my wife told me I was just going to have to keep her like it or not. And she was right. Trixie would walk through hades for me and fight a bear if she thought she needed to.

Funniest thing, she loves to go shooting. She likes to chase the brass and check the targets. lol. She’s a mess.

Here she is checking the targets with my middle boy and one of the neighbor boys.

It was meant to be my friend😁👍!

Long story short--when I had my last dog put down I had Layla in the truck with me less than 3 hours later...I had been saying for years my next puppy is going to be an Irish setter because I had two when I was a kid but never raised one from a puppy... the day I had my last dog put down I was on vacation and so was my cousin and his wife... I went directly to their house after I was at the vet... after a little bit of bsing around the table my cousin's wife said "you know there's Irish setter puppies in our paper right now"?.. we went right over there and the owners let me meet the parents first ...then they put them in the house and opened the door for the puppies to come out, there was nine of them....The other 8 all laid back and were acting kind of nervous/timid and didn't know what to think of us-- Layla was in the back of the pack, jumped over all of her brothers and sisters, ran up to me and jumped up in my face and started licking me... I said "I will take her!" Best friends ever since...😁

Lots of times that’s the best way. Let the puppy pick the person. Great story!

You’re right. She’s my girl, no doubt about it.

And Taco is my boy, he binder with me in the ride home.

In a year or so we plan to see what kind of puppies you get when you cross a Taco and a Trixie.

Sissy's doing great, we have all hardwood or tile floors and she slips and falls now and again when she gets in to big of a hurry. We went for ramble yestiddy about a quarter of a mile and she did fine had to stop and rest a couple of times. She off the leash for the most part but hasn't left the yard yet. She has really took up with me I'm awfully afraid I've got a dog.Not. ::handshake::

Miss crazy eyes, Bristol.

Had a heart warming story to share about two dogs that showed up at our house one day about 3 weeks ago. One is the German Shepherd, a beautiful boy and man was I ready to keep him. The other is the mixed breed female dog. Both wanted in the house and they were both so clean that I knew they had to be house dogs somewhere. We were beside ourselves worrying over what to do with these two and making calls to all our neighbors and the local vets office to see if anyone reported them missing. No one knew whose dogs they were or why they came to be at our house. So our thoughts immediately turned to thinking that someone had dumped them in the country to get rid of them.
I have a neighbor that is 7 feet tall and once played on the Polish Olympic basketball team. He rushed right over and said that he has been thinking of getting a dog since his boy Jed passed away a year and half ago. To my surprise he took them home. The next day the owner of the German Shepherd saw him out walking both dogs and stopped to claim his boy. The female showed up at their house one day a couple of days before they went missing. The man’s wife saw 3 dogs attacking this female and stopped to get them off of her and when she rolled her window down the girl jumped in the car. She apparently led the GS astray and down to our house a mile and half away across a busy highway and to our front door.
Our 7 foot tall neighbor decided to keep the female and they are loving her and she them. Their kids both left home last year and with Jed dying they were feeling a huge hole in their lives. This female they now call Ruby has changed the atmosphere of the house and has helped both husband and wife to change in an amazing way. They never had an indoor dog before and weren’t sure how it would go, but they are thrilled with having Ruby with them around the clock. The bottom pics are the two sleeping at our neighbors house the night they took them home.
Dogs do bring us out of our shells and their companionship is life changing. I know, that’s what my Kobi did for me 9 years ago.

Lots of great stories and photos of our beloved pets. I've enjoyed perusing through this thread. ::tu::

I've always been a dog guy, but after I lost Shadow and DD...I became more attached to cats due to my wife who owned cats when we met. We now have a small herd. :D

But...my boy shown here is Bryce, my Bubbie. This is his everyday routine...sometimes, 3-4 times a day. He gets in my lap and wants his daily 'full body' massage from his head to his tail. When completed, he stretches out along the crease of my legs and takes a nap. I've never had a cat that would want the type of massages, rubbing and vigorous kneading along his back. And yes...he sleeps alongside me at night, with a paw always touching my hand or arm somewhere. The attachment is uncanny, and our bond is like super glue.

Thanks for looking.

Yesir Ken, my Button is the same way with me. As I type this; she's right here, curled up, su-purrr-vising all the goings on, and letting me know she loves me like no tomorrow.
