Refusing to respond

This is my very first post so I hope that I'm doing it correctly. Last June I ordered a leather bound book (Sheffield Exhibition Knives) from Northwest Knives & Collectibles in Salem, OR. Please go to http://www.nwknives.com and click on books. You will immediately have the description for the above book. I received the book and emailed them with three questions. They pertained to the last three sentences of the description. 1)Was my book definitely leather bound? (It was hard for me to tell). 2)Where was the serial number? 3) Where was the original corresponding serial numbered invitation given out by the George Wostenholm-IXL firm? I heard back from them that it was a leather bound book. However, after five times politely asking for a brief email response for questions 2 & 3(from early June to Oct. 26), I am turning to my other knife collector friends. Have any of you had similar problems with this company? I thought it was polite to respond to ones who ask you questions. Am I overreacting and should just deal with others who really want my business?

Politeness is nearly a forgotten notion, especially in some parts of the business world. Chances are that the person who is recieving your email questions does not have the answer and is either too lazy seek an answer or too proud to admit to you or anyone they don't know everything.
At least you got your book. Buy the next one elsewhere.
How bout showing us some of those beautiful knives Johnnie mentioned?

Hi Von, I have done much business with them over the years and the owner is a great guy, that said however since he has not had his hand in the store much things have gone downhill in my opinion. I have not bought from them in a while. The owners name is Bill Clausen and a number you might reach him is 1800-611-8849 or 503-362-9045.

Welcome to AAPK Von.

I live in Salem Oregon & have done quite a bit of business with them until they closed their Salem store in October 2006, IIRC. Mostly I dealt with Bob Steele the store manager.
They still had their store open in Portland, last I knew. The number is: Portland Cutlery Company; (503) 228-2030.
A quick check of the on-line directory shows that the (503) number that Mike posted is still good, but it does give a new address from that of the old store.
