"Silent Hunter"

Through the forest,
Brown & green,
Quiet as,
A dead man's dream,

Sunbeams dancing,
Clover, dew,
Silent hunter,
Passing through.

Over streams,
Through a field,
Silent hunter,
Clover shield,

Of all things,
There are few,
This ol' hunter,
Can not do!

I was thinking of Tom's poem today as I walked down this trail to the beach...perhaps you can see why:
P1020015.JPG

When I got there, I found this "prehistoric sea creature" (Ok...I know it's just driftwood) that the waves had tossed up on the rocks---I put my EDC on top for the photo op.
P1020021.JPG

It's not a "Hunter", but here's my EDC Kershaw Chill(ing) on the rocks at Kealakekua Bay.
P1020029.JPG

If I had taken 30 seconds longer my EDC would have been swept out to sea by the next set of waves and become a true "knife in the wild"!!!

Great pics. Fabulous prehistoric sea creature, and love the chain saw marks around the eye and down the face towards the snout. Somebody carved that baby, or just hacked off enough to topple the palm tree. Fabulous shot either way, really looks it.

I really should stop posting poems here. ::paranoid:: Sorry guys, I'll be back to work tomarrow. ::paranoid::

"Kealakekua Bay"

Near my sunny,
Seaside home,
A beaten path,
I often roam,

Step by step,
Guiding me,
Through the forest,
To the sea,

Sea of blue,
Cliffs of brown,
Grey-white driftwood,
On the ground,

As the waves,
Come crashing in,
Sharp lava rocks,
They shift again,

Hear the seagulls,
Salty air,
Just the joy,
Of being there,

Where everything,
Feels so right,
Except for time,
Time in flight,

Like the sea,
That ebbs & flows,
I often wonder,
Where time goes,

Up the path,
My old friend,
Till at last,
We meet again.

There is a downed limb along one of my walking routes. I have walked past it a few times in the last couple of months, always admiring the hues and texture of the wood. This morning, before I left the house, I grabbed some old bones to exhibit on this "natural showcase".
