Schrade 858 Re-Handle with Brown Jigged Bone

Post by Jeffinn »

I purchased a few of these knives recently from another AAPK member. I like the size and feel of them in your hand. They may be a bit large for some of you, but for me they're the darn near perfect size.
I used a different vendor than I usually use for the bone slabs. They turned out okay maybe just a little different shade of brown than I was expecting.
I re-handled this one in brown jigged bone and cleaned up the liners, bolsters and springs.

Looks great! Schrader made some really good knives, but I've never been a fan of the brown sawcut delrin.
However bone REALLY dresses them up nicely!

Looks nice, Jeff! I like the color and the saturation, even where the jigging is reduced, has a great look! ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu::

Another gorgeous improvement Jeffinn, love your work and keep them coming. You should charge more, they're well worth it. Thanks for providing some one of a kind mods. Love it.

Wow! That one is a prize!
Regrets, Jeff! ::mdm:: I should have had some new bone on the 858 you repaired for me. They are a great knife in my opinion. ::nod::

I think it's great that you've revived so many good knives. Delrin may be good stuff for what it costs but bone is such an improvement. Your restorations are well worth my money.
