camillus #72

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

I got a couple of 72s in the mail.
These are for parts and such.
The one at the bottom, I am going to put a new profile on the blade, clean it up and put it to use.

These were part of The American River Series that Orvis commisioned and i believe several differnt patterns were available. I got this one from Bestgear. If I'm not mistaken he ran a Orvis at one time so I'm sure he knows a lot about them.

Ooh, Greg. That one's nicer than mine. Mine doesn't have any wear but it does have a little spotting on the blades. Plus you have the box. I didn't even know they came with a box. NICE!!!

Added this one to my Camillus 72 Family. A long line Camillus tang stamp, with black handles and Federal style shield. The blades are full, have some slight wear , scratches & spotting, but doesn't seem to have had any sharpening abuse. All blades are tight with great snap. The handles have some slight shrinkage, but are tight. This is my first 72 with Federal Shield on Black handles.

Received this one today. Another addition to my Camillus 72 family. It has the long line Camillus tang stamp. It has the dark brown delrin handles with the federal shield. The blades are tight with no wobble and great snap. They have the original luster but do have some age spiders and staining. Thankfully it has not been abused on a stone, file or grinder. The blades were a little stiff, but after some exercise with some Tuff Glide, they are smooth now. This is the first long line 72 I have in dark brown. I have another in not as good of shape, but it has the lighter cocobrown handles. Excuse the quality of the photos, it has been raining here all day so no natural light, and a couple of the photos the handles look more darker than they are.

Well.....I got Bombed today. Jerryd6818 hit me for the kill. For the back story, back when Jerry was having some PC issues, I sent him an external hard drive so he would always be able to backup his photos, programs as well as his backup files. So....This arrived in my mail box, and I must say a great addition to my Camillus 72 Family.

A long line Camillus Tang Stamp 72 Swell Center Whittler. It has the dark brown handles with the federal shield. All blades are tight with excellent snap. No wobble, great luster and few scratches and has not been abused. I am sure these pictures don't capture how good it looks.

I do appreciate it along with the friendship and commaraderie we have here on AAPK.

Plus just for good measure he threw a Buck 110 in the box also. Can you say overkill. But I do appreciate it.
