Re: Can anyone give me some info on this very old looking knife
We will need to see a good clear photo of the tang stamp, if any. Both sides. The knife appears to be from Spain but it could be from Mexico. My Spanish is not sufficient to translate the words on the handle. I suspect someone will come along who has better language skills than I do.
And by the way,
to AAPK.

I had a knife something like this and finally figured out translated it said Shrimp that sleeps in shallows is carried away by the current. I think these were made for the tourist trade. I tried to translate the wording on your knife and didn't have any luck. I can't read it well enough to be certain. I thought Toledo blessed birth place of ?? ?? . but that probably isn't right. Try to look at the knife and post what you can read on it. spelling is critical.

I doubt this 'knife' can actually cut anything. Is the blade steel, tin, or aluminum ? If steel it will be heavy.

Toledo is a center of cutlery manufacture in Spain. Friends who have toured there have given me knives. As stated above, most of of souvenir quality.

I can’t add to what’s already been said.
As to the saying on the handle, it looses its lyrical sound and rhyme when translated, but it says:
“Toledo my noble birthplace, and famous like no other.”

Maybe one of the moderators could combine the two threads on this topic into one.

Re: Can anyone give me some info on this very old looking knife
This knife was not made to cut things. It is for 'show', like for hanging on a wall as Ken has said, or could be in a display case. People buy these as a souvenir to remind themselves of a vacation in Spain.
Age is hard to say. Likely you could still find something similar in shops in Toledo, Spain.
All of us at one time have bought a knife that turned out to be different from what we thought it was.
