Those two Barlow's are awesome, Skip. ::tu:: I love that GS stamp on the tang. Never seen that before...something new to me.

Ridgegrass...you have two very nice 'oldies' there. Some good life left in them. ::tu::

Ridgegrass wrote: Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:15 pm Two very matched doglegs. The no shield is a Catt. The shielded one's tang stamp is completely obliterated. The shielded one is very slightly the larger of the two. I paid $1 for the unmarked one and have always been curious as to it's brand. The bone is jigged ever so slightly differently from the Catt but the colors are so close .May have replaced blade(s); if so it's a good job, she snaps. Iron bolsters, Remington? Robeson, ???
Any opinions invited. J.O.

Thanks a bunch for the link, Skip. Wow...you have an awesome "Mexico" knife collection...very impressive what you and Jason have obtained. I learned something today. ::tu:: Now, whenever I'm out and about at the estate sales or yard sales, I'll have to keep an eye out for these knives. Not so much that I'll start collecting them, but pick them up for you or Jason. Of course, if I happen to run across a "Pastor Aleman", I'll probably keep it...just one, in remembrance of my Shadow (GSD) I lost about 5 years ago. Sentimentality weirdness. ::facepalm:: Anyway...I also perused the link you listed for the information on Mexico knives in Knife Magazine. Lots of great history in that article.

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to Mexico.
If you're going to look for PASTOR ALEMAN pocket knives,
make sure of the tang stamp and other markings. There
are PASTOR ALEMAN knives from Japan also. Here's one
from Japan on eBay. Compare the markings, quite different.

Thanks for the heads up and education, Skip. ::handshake:: Yeah...that Japan made one is not even close to what you've been showing.

Here's a couple Stag Trappers that were neither sold nor purchased together but seem to match up pretty well:

Thanks Tom :)

Here's another pair of Stag Trappers...these are identical twins in every way (same brand, same model, same year) except for the stag covers (and also, one of them has about twice the closing and opening snap force as the other...which also has excellent snap, BTW)

Thank you, gentlemen. I must admit I have a weakness for blue-handled knives...Oh, and Wharncliffes as well...and...well...let's just be honest...when it comes to knives, I have many weaknesses. Always glad to find out I'm not alone. ::uc:: ::nod:: :D
