Appreciate it Cudgee. Actually this only makes my fourth 72, but I have 15 other variations or clones so to speak.

That makes it even more impressive, they are obviously hard to get, and being selective makes it more worthwhile.Papa Bones wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 11:49 pmAppreciate it Cudgee. Actually this only makes my fourth 72, but I have 15 other variations or clones so to speak.

I like the bone, nice catchPapa Bones wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 10:24 pm Finally received this one late yesterday. A Camillus 72 late production Swell Center Whittler. Has the Camillus late production double line tang stamp and the same stamp on the shield. Black bone handles and I don't believe has been used. Blades are tight, great snap, don't appear to have been sharpened and inside the blade wells are very clean. Does have a couple of small spots on the blades and on the springs. But a great addition to my Camillus 72 family.

Are handles definitely bone ? The jigged black handled 72's i have had were synthetic.

Yes, The late issue with this tang stamp and this shield in black are bone. I was skeptical myself, but several other AAPK members told me this particular issue is bone. Might want to check down this thread viewtopic.php?f=2&t=46672&start=3015kootenay joe wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 3:27 am Are handles definitely bone ? Look at the handles through a 60X lighted loop and you can definitely tell it's bone. I purchased one of these loops from amazon, they really come in handy when looking at a set of scales.

Very handy thing to have in the kit, that would be good for inspecting edges when sharpening.Papa Bones wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 4:39 amYes, The late issue with this tang stamp and this shield in black are bone. I have a similar lighted loupe. Think it is 40X but the resolution is poor so it is not as helpful as my basic Zeiss 9X.
When i posted about the Camillus jigged black handles i thought they might be bone but the 'experts' replied: "not bone" and said all the black Camillus are synthetic. Seems the opinion on these handles is divided.

Roland, there were several late knives with black bone handles. Harley Davidson HD21, Flying Ducks, Remington and the one Papa Bones posted. I probably missed one but those come to mind.

Smitty,
That magnifier you have is pretty nice. I have a loupe, but it's a small hand held one that I have to move back & fourth to get the proper focus and then try to maintain that focus, plus adjusting ambient light just right to get a good photo. My eyes are not all that good anymore, so it was getting frustrating. So, this is what I just picked up so I can look at the markings on knives that are hard to read or I need more magnification. The nice thing about this item is; It's USB, hooks up to my computer so I can see what it is I'm looking at...and then take a photo of it. I'm terrible at taking macro photos with my camera...I can never get the lighting right and takes me a dozen times to finally get a decent photo. Hopefully, this will alleviate all those issues I've been having in getting hard to see markings.

I was too late to score a 2020 AAPK Club Knife, but I did manage to score a Blade Forum 2020 Club Knife - just opened it up and it looks cool. Very different than any pocketknife I have owned before - Viper brand made in Italy too, first Italian made pocketknife I have owned. OH

That's a nice knife, Bruce. I really like that wharncliffe, and the handles are attention getters.

From the bottom of the bay, I think these are saying
" you better back off over yonder and look at me again"
Or maybe " 12 months from the day you mess with me you gonna be dead a freaking year".
