Old Remington 3 blade ID request

Can anyone give me some info on this Remington 3 blade folder please? It was my grandfather's and we believe he received it as a boy in the early 1900's. There aren't any numbers on it (unless they might be inside or under the scales), only the straight logo.

Can't really give you a pattern number but I can tell you that this is what is called a "straight line" Remington. This knife was Remington's economy brand of pocket knife made to compete with the less expensive knives (Imperial, Colonial, etc) which were popular in the 1930's. I don't know if any of them had pattern numbers and they may have been contracted out by Remington. Remington Collector may be able to comment a little more fully on this.

remington made knives from 1921-1940. according to goins, the mark you show was used 1935-1940.

Thank you! That at least narrows it down. So, is it an "RC5 Straight Line Pocket Knife"? I want as much info as I can get. I'd like to be able to definitively say it's a "?????", made in 194X with ???? handle scales, etc. I have no interest in selling it, I just like to be thorough.

not an RC5. might be a R4835. what is closed length?

It's 3.25" (actually 3.3125") closed.

I would guess that its a R4845. Made in the late 30's, with yellow pyremite handles with a schroll shield. Has a clip mainblade and a pen and sheepsfoot for secondary blades. I'd bet that knife had an inked on pattern number that has long since been worn away. That knife sold new for around 75 cents. Had it been in mint condition it would bring around $200 today.
If one of the blades is a punch it could be a R4855, if its a pen blade I think its a R4845, thats the only difference between the two. I can't tell from the picture which it is, a picture from the other side would tell. we're talking about the blade thats on the end by itself.

hey remington collector, aren't the 4845 and 4855 serpentine? his looks like an equal end to me.

So you think the handle scales are Pyremite, which is a manufactured material? The handles look much more "natural" than the pictures of Pyremite I've seen. They aren't very uniform in color or in shape. They look more like bone to me.

that is a punch blade and the handles are pyremite. i think it is an r4835. use some oil and 0000 steel wool to stop the active rust.

I agree with Jonet143 on it being a R4835.
I overlooked the fact that it's a equal end knife.
