This one arrived in my mailbox today. Another Craftsman 9494 to add to my 72 clone pile. Going to add this one in my EDC rotation. The blades are tight with no wobble or looseness, and have great snap. I had to do some cleaning, and de-gunking, and the smaller clip blade had some kind of black substance on the tip. The main problem with this knife is that someone used a course stone on the Main and small clip blade, and if you look on the pile side of those blades, looks like they got too close to a grinder. Dang shame, because the blades still have some of their original luster. The coping blade is in good shape. I believe I can clean the blades up a little more. The handles and bolsters are in great shape, no cracks in the handles and little wear. I got it at a good price and can live with putting in a little work to make it a good carry knife. Plus....who doesn't like a 72 pattern or one of the variations? ::tu::

I know what you mean about someone getting to close to a course stone, but sometimes i see posts of old knives with that very issue, and they just look good and well used. It is all personal taste of course, the more you use an EDC it just gets knocked around a bit. Like old tools, but they still work. You have a good weekend, and i forgot to say, good get. ::tu::

Thanks Mark and Garry for the compliments on the knives. The Japanese knives are my favorites. The quality is just amazing on these.

Papa Bones, thanks for the compliment on the A.G. Russell stag whittler, it IS nice stag.
I like those craftsmen knives. I need to keep an eye open for those. My wife’s father was a huge Craftsman user. He was a carpenter most of his 94 years and Craftsmen was just about the only brand he used. I know she would love it if I had some of those. You’ve had some really nice ones you have been posting.

I really like these handles and hope Case uses them again. Note it's a 2020 edition.
That bone does look good! ::tu::

My goodness, that’s a great pickup! I remember when you could actually get good tools, knives and household appliances from Sears. Sadly, that’s not the case now.

Appreciate it. I love the 72 patterns, and have always love the older Craftsman tools. So it is kind of a double like for me. You have a great weekend also. ::tu::

Thanks Mark. I am also a fan of the older Craftsman tools. Most of the ones I own are the older V and doubleV series made in the U.S.A. I refuse to buy the newer ones since they contracted them out. I was a diesel & heavy equipment mechanic for over 36 years and Craftsman was used a lot. Have a good weekend.

Nice haul, dogleg. I especially like the bone on that no line 12 in the middle.

My latest pick-up is this XX era Case 6207 with Green Bone which was also pulled out of the bay.

Just got this one in yesterday. A Queen made Robeson Mastercraft Rail Splitter in beautiful smooth black buffalo horn. I’m always drawn to this pattern but for some reason I end up selling them off after awhile. Not sure if this one is one I am going to keep or sell, I’m loving this buffalo horn on this pattern, it looks amazing. Probably the best looking Rail Splitter I have seen or handled.
