camillus #72

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

doglegg wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2020 4:09 pm Well the franken 3 spring traditional whittler showed up. I sent an email to the seller and asked if he knew who had done the mod and he said that he didn't realize that it had been worked on. So the knife mechanic remains a secret. Great job on it. No half stops on any of the blades. All tight and great snap. Over all I am very pleased. More bulky than the original but still very comfortable. Thanks for looking.DSCN6709.JPGDSCN6710.JPGDSCN6711.JPGDSCN6712.JPGDSCN6713.JPGDSCN6714.JPGDSCN6715.JPG

Added this one to my Camillus 72 family today. A Camillus 72 Yellow Jacket in the yellow delrin handles. Blades are tight with no wobble, great snap, but do have small scratches, and I need to do a sharpening and a little work on the coping blade to even the edge. The Yellow Jacket etch is present on the master blade but a little weak. Other than that a great addition in a variation I didn't have.

Sigh. It has a Camillus tang stamp. I'll go with variation but it's not a clone.

Finally received this one late yesterday. A Camillus 72 Swell Center Whittler late production with Black bone handles. It has the Camillus double line tang stamp with the same stamp design on the shield. It has the black bone handles, and shows no wear or evidence of ever being sharpened after production. The blades are tight, no wobble and great snap. They have the original finish, but do have some minor age spots on the blade and springs. The blade well is clean. The pictures were taken after removing the package from the shipping carton. I've done nothing since other than oil the blades.

Today I add this CAMILLUS 72, 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" pocket knife to my collection. This was one pocket knife out of a lot/group of four that I purchased, but NOT for this particular knife.

It required no cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Very nice skip, beautiful blades and doesn't look like any shrinkage on the handles. Nice score. Since that wasn't the one you bought the set for, just keep me in mind if you get tired of her. ::woot:: ::woot::
