My first Canoe, a Buckmasters-branded Camillus. Not using this one, but if I decided to, I'd probably buy a Case.

And a project I hope to complete over Christmas break, a Queen #45S Big Chief (I think these were sold as net knives for fishermen) with a busted backspring. The knives are assembled quite simply, and with the proper tools and only four parts to the knife (pin included), it should be a good start as practice for tearing down and repairing knives; unlike a Swinden Schrade, which is among the most difficult. The bigger challenge will be finding a backspring--I found a seller with the #45D Diver blade (which I am going to use to build the elusive Diver using a regular Big Chief if this project goes well), but I have found no backsprings in the tons and tons of factory leftover parts. Will probably end up having to find a beat-up example to harvest a backspring from.

I purchased this knife to put in my "portable spice/cooking kit".. I don't know how many times I've cut myself (reaching into my box of goodies) on my fixed blade chef/food prep knives when I take them with me.. I think this will be a good one to keep in my kit so I don't cut myself anymore!..4.3" blade, 9.5" open (roughly).. should be a decent one...I gotta give Rough Ryder one prop-- most of their knives are hair popping sharp on arrival and sharpen easily... we'll see how it works out...

I primarily collect Imperial Schrade related knives but have branched out to include anything with scrimshaw by Bill Feeney.

Today I landed a trio of Liberty-themed, 1980s Parker knives. They appear to be white bone and all three are signed by Bill. The belt-buckle/knife is a first for me so it's a neat addition. All will arrive in their original "Spouting Whale" boxes and there is some original paperwork too. My guess would be these were done in 1986.

Victorinox Golfer on the cheap.

I have an older version of this from the '60s that is is a plastic-handle version of what is called the Voyageur. However, I wanted a few more tools (corkscrew, hook, pen, pin, mini screwdriver), and while I paid next to nothing for it; the Voyageur is a very rare and desirable model. I prefer the combo tool, but I got this Golfer for about half what a used Compact is. The divot tool has its uses.

Only cost me $14.51 with shipping and tax included (my winning bid was just $10).

And all the Plus Scale stuff is there--pen still works too!

And practical too. I have the Eye Witness and I find it easier to grip than a Barlow. Eventually, I am picking up the Wright version; since it is carbon steel. I have to strop or touch up the Eye Witness constantly. Sheffield Stainless might have been legendary in the early 1900s, but in 2020; even the steel on budget options is better at edge-holding.

Not a knife, really; but it is designed by a custom knifemaker, and produced by him. Not the design modified for use by CRKT years later.

Ray Kirk/Raker Knives. Ray Kirk, long before his appearance on Forged in Fire; has been (though not active in 2-3 years) a member of another forum I am on. The CRKT KERT is a modified version of his Raker Ring Tool design, and made in that country we don't like to talk about here. Steel is horrible, and it's not very heavy-duty. However, his own, made in Oklahoma designs aren't that expensive on the secondary market, since he isn't that known. This Raker Ring Tool is Damascus, and I only gave $25 for it, from a member of that forum. I plan to probably just put this in my display case, but I am thinking about wearing it around my neck on a breakaway lanyard. The Raker is MUCH thicker blade stock, has a different design screwdriver (angled vs. straight), so it can be a package opener/window breaker, and the oxygen tank key is designed differently, since the bit driver doubles as the keyring attachment point.


I think this is the very tool I was sold. This was found on that forum from a post the guy who sold it to me made about 10-11 years ago.

I had chosen to go with a box, as this tool is irreplaceable, being basically a custom knife. That's a flat rate box, which is pricey (when selling/trading stuff, I've gone to saving old Uline boxes; and shipping based on actual weight that saves me $2), so I needed to fill it up more. Finances are still a little bit tight, but I'm hoping I'll have some extra birthday money I can spend on a rather nice small custom fixed blade the guy had (Blind Horse Knives Tiger Knapp) for $40. I offered the guy $7.50 for these two Lansky knives, and he accepted. From what I'm understanding, these are bulky, heavy knives with really bad ergonomics. I bought these for work beaters; especially around people who are hard on my tools, and dirty work that makes a mess out of a good knife, which is all my China-made knives are for these days. These are supposed to be "World Legal"; but the designs are so much form over function, they even creep me out. Nothing wrong with a smallish traditional slipjoint or SAK in my view. But, I'm a big fan of the Spyderco Roadie. It looks good, is lightweight, and performs (still haven't gotten one). But, the blades are quite thick, and they should withstand an unholy amount of abuse. I think I can use the World Legal's heavy metal lanyard attachment as a hammer.

World Legal. I hate these over-stylized blades.

Madrock hawkbill. 4 ounces is a really heavy weight for a smallish knife, under 4" closed. I'm a sucker for hawkbills.....

The owner said it's like new with the original box. Just going by his photos it seems to have little wear and the blade etch is still prominent. I will post more photos in the Camillus 72 CLone Thread when it arrives.

Ordered this for my Grandson-in-law for Christmas because he's an auto mechanic.

Ordered these for me because......... I wanted them. Both are on back order Maybe I'll get them before Christmas and they will be a Christmas present for me.. The Air Force fills out the Military set (there's no Coast Guard edition yet). Thinking about getting one for my niece and the cigar band is because I like 'em a lot.
