Man boys, you guys are haulin' around some mighty fine iron, love em' 99's, and the mashup 1911's Smitty.
1911 is a fan fav of mine, can't get a real one, so I go with air replica's.
I know, I know. Sorry excuse for a true sidearm
.
Such is my life... Chronic illness can be a real bummer at times, so I try to go with the highest quality air pistol's you can buy.
Funny thing with are firearm laws up here in Canada. Most people don't know this, but by law, we are aloud to carry personal firearms for protection, but also by law, we ain't aloud too.
Yea, some stupid beuacrats created a mixed up law, which is nothing new folks. Been going on like this for many, many years.
You know the drill
.
Anyway, here's my 1911
.
Genuine Sig Sauer custom, which is basically their .45 chambered for air. Same frame as the regular one, same build quality, same attention to detail, and built to sig's spec's in Japan.
Surprisingly for an air pistol, she got power, close range mind you. But, for what it is, is more then enough to kill varmints, and protect your self in a pinch.
Please don't discount it, got to put yourself in my shoes. At least it's better then no protection

A very good looking gun Willy. Plus you can shoot indoors with a proper set up as well as outside; little noise to contend with. An air gun of this quality is well worth having for anyone including those of us who have unlimited firearm access.

I think some of you will find this humorous as I do and I certainly hope no one is offended by it. It's excerpted from the novel Processed Cheese by Stephen Wright, and is about the interaction between a "gun nut" (Graveyard), who is very enthusiastic about his guns, and his non-gun-loving friend (Herringbone). It's basically a tongue-in-cheek satire on the "collector mentality" and could just as easily apply to collectors of anything (including knives, of course). The part at the end draws a parallel to women and clothes. (Sorry for the poor quality...I assembled it in a hurry...but I think it's legible if you double-click to enlarge.)

The "insect-shell finish" cracked me up. Just the other day I read about a newly discovered beetle which had a shell so tough a truck could drive over it without harming the beetle. Military applications are now being studied.

Awesome airsoft Willy. I have one that looks like a Glock 19. I use it for critter dispersion when stray dogs happen around my property. it's really amazing how far they will shoot ad how accurate for an airsoft pistol.WillyCamaro wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 3:36 am Man boys, you guys are haulin' around some mighty fine iron, love em' 99's, and the mashup 1911's Smitty.

Thank you gent's
, I think soo too Smitty
.
Just not to be rude, or anything, just want to nerd a bit on the differences of each type, and there is a BIG difference between an airsoft, airgun, and firearm.
Airsoft usually shoot 6mm, or sometimes 8mm, plastic balls, at low fps. Their for playing fake war/competition shooting.
For the most part, the most damage they can do is nock an eye out, or bust some teeth.
Airguns on the other hand, are waaaay more dangerous, downright lethal in higher powered guns. They are actual weapons, while airsoft are not.
They are in a different category then firearms, because the are fired by compressed air, while "guns" shoot projectiles by expanding, compressed gases, fired off by highly volatile substances, and an ignition source.
That's basically what the differences boil down too.
Airsoft: Oversized/pumped up plastic ball shooter.
Airgun: Fires projectile by compressed air.
Firearm: Fires projectile by compressed gasses, caused by a flammable material, sparked off by and ignition source of some kind.
Hope that wasn't too professor like of an explanation

Truth be told, I wouldn't ever fire this one in doors. Extremely loud (for an airgun), and actually it's too powerful for safe indoors shooting.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Fri Oct 30, 2020 11:46 am Plus you can shoot indoors with a proper set up as well as outside; little noise to contend with.
If you have a proper range in the basement, then yes, by all means have fun. But for the casual shooter, no-no. And this is coming from personal experience when I first tested her out. Even out in the shop/garage, she scared me. Them copper balls are not to be be treated lightly, I know I never want to get hit by one, to say the least
Anything over 400fps is outside/range only. If you do want to shoot indoors casually, then go with something -300, or an almost empty co2 cartridge.

No argument on that point here, i'm shredding thick packing boxes, at 10 paces with her, last time we were out.
For a smooth bore, she has oomf, to say the least
If I can remember correctly from last time, shooting free hand, I was smacking dirt up at 30-40 yards easy, all day long.
I would love to hit a proper range some day, it would be interesting to see what happens at 10 yards, FBI rating.
Oh, I love glocks too!
I have me the bare bones 19, solid frame, non-recoil, Umarex, "budget" model (not budget in power, build, price).
It has no recoil to speak of, but that makes it a blast to shoot. Because it is a solid build, it gets higher fps, and a fun trigger. This thing dumps mags faster then you can fire
I don't know how big a difference the accuracy is, compared to the Sig, I don't have a range setup yet, so it's all a guess.
....
It's easy to see why so many people love em', I'm completely sold on the frame shape/comfort/utilitarian design, soooo comfy.

Very cool, Willy, and definitely realistically looking. My dad has a 17, probably over 20 years old, in 9MM and that pistol is a dream to shoot.

Thought I would post up a few more of my other addiction.
M1 Garand Win-13. Made by Winchester in 1945, the build code was WIN-13 and stamped on the lower right side of receiver. Most of the Win-13 series were never issued. I prurchased this one in 1989 through DCM (Department of Civilian Marksmanship) which is now known as CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program)
Russian SVT-40 This was the first semi-auto that went into full production. The SVT-38 was actually the first but very few were produced before the modifications and upgrade to the SVT-40. Chambered in 7.62x54R which is comparable in ballistics to the 30-06. It also had an adjustable gas system.
M1896b Swedish Mauser chambered in 6.5x55mm and produced by Carl Gustaf.
Egyptian made MAADI AKM, basically an Egyptian made AK47 semi-auto chambered in 7.62x39mm. These were the closest to a Kalashnikov Concern built AK you could get, as Kalashnikov sold the tooling & machinery to Egypt.

I received this new holster today. A WINTHROP OWB made in the USA.
The leather is thick and the handgun fits very secure in it.
Anyone have experience with this type or brand?
