Looks like a good day of prep for hunting season GD! Should be doing that myself but a medical procedure will keep me out of the woods this fall. Next year for sure. with a Savage 99 R in 300 Sav.

Happy 10/22 everyone!
I've customized this one a little, one of my favorite rifles and a pleasure to shoot.

I bought one of those in about 1974, so roughly 46 years ago, my first semi-automatic. Just a magnificent rifle, so solid and well made. Thanks for posting this, brings back some great memories, of a great time, when life was a lot simpler.

Good job on the customization. 10-22's are just a fun rifle. Well, I guess any .22 is for that matter. I've got a plain Jane 10-22 but I did change out the barrel to a bull barrel and dropped in one of the RugerBX trigger groups. It does make the 10-22 trigger pull a little more crisp and less squishy.

I was looking at the Mini-14, but that's a bit too expensive. I'm really liking the 10-22. I'm wanting a lightweight woods rifle, of good quality and modern production. Currently, I have just an old Ithaca M-66 Super Single, a common shotgun a lot of guys grew up with, but it weighs a ton! I've sometimes been going after predators with it, and it got old. Plus, the only "safety" is keeping the breech open.
This is the "compact" version. I hate the look of synthetic stocks, but they do save a TON of weight.

Ahh, the old lever action look on a single break. I used to have one many years ago in .410. Wish now I had kept it. They are harder to find now a days.
Looks nice. 10-22's are a dependable little .22 with all kind of options and accessories. The one in your link is a good looking rifle. But yes, I also like the warm feel of wood stocks. But, synthetics are durable with less maintenance.cody6268 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 8:35 pm I'm really liking the 10-22. I'm wanting a lightweight woods rifle, of good quality and modern production.

I have a minty fresh 20 gauge Ithaca 66 from the 70’s. It was the first gun that momma bought daddy after they were married. It became mine when I was born, and now it technically belongs to my oldest son. I bet it ain’t had 5 boxes of shells shot out of it.cody6268 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 8:35 pm I was looking at the Mini-14, but that's a bit too expensive. I'm really liking the 10-22. But I’d hardly call it heavy? I’d be shocked, absolutely shocked, if it weighed as much as a Ruger 10-22.

Re: Guns & Gun Related Stuff
I would not waste my time looking at a Mini 14. I have had a couple of them over the years, and the first one would shoot a best group at 100 yards of 4 1/2 inches. About 4-5 years ago I had a second one which at the time it was said that they had improved the quality control and they shot better than the older ones. I guess they were right, my second one shot 4 inches at 100 yards even after a lot of handloading work with different powders etc. And in addition to that it would not reliably feed factory Federal 223 with the 55FMJ. Any 223 rifle that will not feed that load is not for me. Better off going with an AR. I had an AR with the 20" heavy stainless steel barrel that would shoot about 5/8" at 100 yds.with my choice handload, but it was so darned HEAVY. Plus Mini 14s are about $800 now.cody6268 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 8:35 pm I was looking at the Mini-14, but that's a bit too expensive. I'm really liking the 10-22. Well ya got me there. I never went out that far and I never fired it from a bench at a known distance. Too late to find out now. These days, if I can see the target, I can't see the sights and if I can see the sights, I can't see the target so for me it's immaterial what kind of groups it will shoot.
