Re: Camillus 72 Clones
Ran across this Bird 72 clone on the bay the other day. Seller had a buy it now price and I made an offer, he counter offered and I accepted. He asked if I knew the maker and I told him probably China. He also asked if there were many variants of the 72 so I sent him a pic of the few I have. Pleasant purchasing experience. Thanks for looking.

Floyd.......are you using that voodoo doll on me again?
That is a VERY good looking CAMILLUS 72 variation.

Congratulations on a terrific acquisition!
Put the voodoo doll and pins away.

P.S. Don't forget to post the three spring variation here.

Thanks Skip.
Though not a manufactures variation it appears that some knife mechanic variated this one some what. He actually did a knice job.

Re: Camillus 72 Clones
Well, I actually received this one yesterday, but waited until today to post about it.
Another addition to my Camillus 72 clone family, a Ulster 63 Swell center whittler. It was in rough shape, but the blades have no wobble and great snap. The handles are in decent shape but do have a small crack at the lower center pin. The blades were stained, the tip of the master clip blade was broke, and the secondary small clip blade was missing and looked like it had been shorted against something electrical. The metal around the break showed signs of being heated. But this being a hard variation to find in excellent shape I saw potential in it. I figured I could clean it up and it would be a good filler until I find one in better shape. But here are photo's of it when I first got it. I don't claim to be knife mechanic, but I am happy with the way it turned out. I gave it a warm mineral oil soak overnight, then worked the joints & flushed out with some WD-40 and blew out with air. Cleaned all the blades, and re-profiled the Master Clip & the secondary clip. Flushed again, the put some flitz on the bolsters. It has great snap and the handles look awesome. It's by no means perfect, but I am happy to add it to my group. Oh, almost forgot........I gave $14 for it.

Re: Camillus 72 Clones
Added this one to my Camillus 72 family today. A variation of the Camillus 72, A Camillus 72 Yellow Jacket in the yellow delrin handles. Blades are tight with no wobble, great snap, but do have small scratches, and I need to do a sharpening and a little work on the coping blade to even the edge. The Yellow Jacket etch is present on the master blade but a little weak. It has the Camillus double line tang stamp. A great addition in a variation I didn't have.

Like I said in the other thread, I do not have a problem with the yellow handles.

Smitty, you're on a tear. Keep it going.

Appreciate it skip. I am really pleased with the ulster. Most of the work was by hand, and a dremel. Plus it will make a good rotation in my edc lot.New_Windsor_NY wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 12:31 am

Papa Bones, great save on that one. The,63's are a little harder to find I think. Especially in great shape.

Re: Camillus 72 Clones
Today I'm adding this CAMILLUS 72 variation to my collection. It's another SCHRADE 863, 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" pocket knife. It required a little cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.
