Need Help Identifying in the Old Swedish Knife

Every now and then I buy something on eBay that has more than one item in the auction. In this case I was buying a Western that needed repair and didn't really pay much attention to the other knife that was in the auction.
When the knife arrived, the Western was exactly what I had expected, except it was in better shape than it appeared in the pictures.

The second knife was this one stamped Sweden on the pile side tang, but the name is pretty well worn off of the mark side.
The name appears to start with a P and with RG. That is not much to go on but I thought perhaps someone here with a much faster knowledge of Swedish fixed blades than I have might be able to figure out the name. Any other information you could give me about the knife would be greatly appreciated.

I thought this was a cool old knife and I would like to restore it as long as it's not a high dollar collectible as is, doubtful but better safe than sorry!

Definitely a Pontus Holmberg knife. I have owned 2 just like the O.P. knife. P. H. is about the most well known of all Swedish knife makers.
Some people think he stopped making knives in 1930's but others say he continued making a few knives up to 1950's.
I bet if you sharpened it you would get a very sharp edge that would hold up well.

I would like to put new stsg on it, but not if that would devalue the knife.

On ebay it would get up to $50, and a bit more if you have the original sheath.
I think the handles should stay. They are quite characteristic of a Pontus Holmberg knife.

I took a couple more pictures of the handle, unfortunately I was in a hurry and they didn't turn out great, but they do illustrate the feature I was wishing to comment on.
Apparently one half of the handle has been hollowed out so the tang will fit into the, perhaps both halves, but the tang is hidden where it goes through the stag, and the handle has two halves, one that could then the other.

I'm not sure if anyone's seen this kind of construction before or not and, but since I first noticed this I noticed another one that is built on the same principle of hollowing out the handles and hiding the tang inside the bone, yet using two slab handles.

Dale i did have 3 stag handled Holmberg knives and the handles were the same style as yours. Unfortunately i have sent all 3 to be 'ebayed' in the last few years. I i recall correctly the sheaths have a metal covering over the tip. Wish i still have one here so i could post pictures.
This is the downside of selling off one's knives: they are now not here when i want to show one.

Dale:I have a couple of German made knives and a Marbles Ideal that have that handle treatment.
