A good guess Steve. There is the exceptional migrant but frequency of use is up among the resident sparrows too.

Maybe they're washing up now, knowing a super-cold winter is coming and they won't be able to bathe due to the ice!

A point of interest to me is that they do little bathing, mostly drinking.

They do seem to frequent it more often of late. Or maybe I'm

just catching them at it more.

Nice Bluebird shots, Homer. I like the Cooper's Hawk too. I agree with Homer and Steve that Phil's hawk is either a Sharp-shinned or Cooper's Hawk.

The Hummingbirds have gone. On October 9 we still had a couple at the feeder and Cypress Vines. None since then. Now I can pull up the Cypress Vine without feeling guilty. Another one or two might show up, sometimes they do, but usually once they leave, they all leave. Here is one last photo to say farewell until spring.

I had several American Redstarts in my oak last week but i could not get a good photo. Here is one.

I also had a Flycatcher hanging around: I am not venturing a guess as to the precise species.

I kind of think that all of these birds migrated south just as soon as the storm cleared out of the Gulf. My Garden is bereft of birds for the last two days.

Great pictures and nice variety of birds. There are still good numbers moving through here, so it is not over down your way by any means.

I normally wait until a little later in the year to hang feeders, but I just filled/put them out. With apologies to Claude Rains, it took no time to "Round up the usual suspects".

While other species come and go, it is a daily guarantee that Chickadees, Nuthatches, Titmice, Cardinals, Downy and Red Bellied Woodpeckers show up.

Very nice Chickadee and Nuthatch photos, Ike. Chickadees, Titmice, and Cardinals are at our feeder just about every day when we feed. Unfortunately, White-breasted Nuthatches almost never visit the Gulf Coast in my area.

I am still amazed that you got a shot of that Redstart. There was a small flock hanging around here for about 3 weeks, never could get a pic of one. However, I did have a lot of "empty branch" pbotos to delete.

Spotted what I believe to be a Golden-crowned kinglet this morning.
It was flitting around in the Norway Spruce we have out back.

Do the Red Breasted Nuthatches show up there? They, along with White Throated Sparriws and Yellow Rumped Warblers are now in Illinois, meaning migration is nearing an end.

Never, at least in my experience. We have Brown-headed Nuthatches, but they are quite rare.

Nice Rufous-sided Towhee, Homer. They are common in appropriate habitat here. One of my favorite birds, but rare in my back yard.

Steve, I love Kinglets. Ruby-crowned are common here in winter. Golden-crowned do not seem to make it this far south. Kinglets are just about the hardest bird there is to photograph.
