I am having a hard time finding any other that looks like this, United Boker made in Solingen, Germany see attachment, I've had this since the 1980's, There was some United Boker in earlier Discussions, Some say it's celluloid, others say something else, judging from this knife, there is no shrinkage, or corrosion in the liners or the rust in the inside bottom, this I would grade it at about 95% a real nice piece of a canoe. So chime in, and give me your opinion!

Beautiful knife. I would guess that is celluloid, but I am no expert. However, I have rehandled dozens of knives with deteriorating, "outgassing" celluloid and, from your pictures, I don't see any signs of it on your knife. I have also seen lots of non-celluloid knives damaged by being stored with or near celluloid knives. I would just keep an eye on it and not store it with other valuable knives. You have mentioned some of the common signs. Also, sometimes the first sign is a brownish discoloration of the bolsters where they meet the scales.

Nice canoe. I too feel that it is celluloid handles. It's possible that it has stabilized and may never give any trouble, but treat it like it may outgas tomorrow. I keep mine at a neighbor's house.
