This was in the mail today. It was the result of dredging the bay.
What caught my eye in the ad was the punch design.
The punch is marked SPIRAL in ascending letters with PUNCH , smaller letters underneath. The main clip is only marked Made in USA. The clip has a half stop, the liners are all N/S. A very neat 3 3/8" Cattle knife except the blades are well worn. The clip is not as snappy as the punch or what is left of I think, a spay blade.
Who do you suppose made this one? The N/S liners reminded me of some of the old Case knives but I know the isn't a Case.

A wining bid for 18.50 plus shipping sent this one my way. It's an old one listed as unknown.... the bone scales have a chip in a couple of places but it still is a solid knife with snap on all three with halh stops. The main blade may have been reshaped at the tip but not sure.
There's part of a stamping left on one of the smaller blades. Maybe some of our friends here can identify the maker...
My guess is the bottom of the Keen kutter emblem, but what do I know
It's still a keeper...

Whatever brand it is, those scales are breathtakingly beautiful! Congrats!

David, "rustyoldknife" was kind enough to send me some pictures of Schrade Tang stamps so that I can date this knife between 1948 and 1973. Thanks for your help in that David!

It was very crudy & had very little snap but 20-30 min. of cleaning & oiling the joints & springs & I am now the proud owner of a nice 808 HOK. The whole knife cleaned up real well. Blades are worn but have no wobble & the scales are in great condition. They don't appear to be bone or derlin. The snap is not great but it did come back enough to make me happy about my purchase. I'll post the after cleaning pictures here. I'll post the before and after pictures on the Schrade thread.

Just happend to find two nice looking older Schrade knives on eBay over the weekend JP. Very rare over here. Untill now, I only had one Schrade. A Schrade Copenhagen Peanut. Now I also have this 808 and a Scout knife is on the way. Tripled my Schrade collection in one day. LOL! Wish I had a few more.

Some beautiful knives being posted. Congrats to all of you on some nice finds. I got this one in the other day. Been looking for one just because my grandad used to carry one. This one has great snap, the handles don't have any cracks, and not stained. A Utica Kutmaster Purina promotional.

Also picked up a Case 6207 Mini-Trapper Carhartt shield.

A little fellow from Minnesota came to live with me yesterday. A Hackett Gates Hurty Co. cigar shaped knife with a Rope blade for the primary. The blade arrangement is what caught my eye. It said some of its family lives with djknife and that it had heard

Good day, the Ponder Post Rider brought me a bundle of knives today.
A 2011 BUCK 220 Fillet Lockback Knife. At 14" overall with a 6.5" blade this is the biggest darn fillet knife I've ever owned and super sharp.
A Rough Rider RR602 Small Stockman. Very nice knife
5 Rough Ryder's from the HIGH PLAINS Series. This may be my most favorite series that I've purchased.

Very nice Tom. It cleaned up really nice. I am fond of those old Schrade's and Craftsman's with the peachseed looking jig pattern. Better watch it, they are kind of like that old potato chip commercial. Can't have just one. Ask me how I know.

That is a rather large fillet knife, but should work well for any size fish. I've seen those and thought about one myself. Be good on filleting large catfish. Does the blade have any flex or rigid? If you use it, let me know how it works out for you.

Very nice looking group of Rough Ryders. The Rough Ryder's High Plains Series ..... seems like they would have called one a drifter with a likeness of Clint on it, but that's just me.

Because the blade on that fillet knife is long and rather narrow it has about a 1/4" flex in it.

Schrade has traditionally called their handles of that era Stagged Delrin regardless of the pattern, although they also had a Stagalon, a sawcut delrin along with a smooth delrin.

A lot of the older Shrades in the 50's and through th 60's had the brown delrin and bone colored delrin with a dark layer that was a close match to the old peach seed jig pattern. But I have also heard some of the old collectors say it was more of a Pine Bark Pattern. Which I think was a pattern also coined by Case.
