How uncommon is a short bolster Camillus/Remington R4243 Camp Knife? Ones with longer bolsters are regularly on ebay and I have a few of them. The one I just bought unexpectedly has short bolsters. A sharper eye would have spotted that in the pictures but I'd forgotten about short bolster R4243s. I'd only read one mention of them here. I'm deciding whether to make the one I just bought my daily carry. That honor would be transferred to it because it has a little damage caused by a prior owner's abuse. That was not in the pictures or description. If they are scarce It'll go in the collection of knives that I do not use.
Also, my guess is Camillus started out with short bolsters then lengthened them so it would take more side pressure on the tools to pry the bolsters and liners apart. Is that correct?
If you are wondering about carrying something so large R4243s fit nicely in Folding Hunter pouches and I do not have to dress to please liberal city people.
Are short bolster R4243s scarce?

I’d carry one of the more common long bolster versions if you want to carry one. I have one of each somewhere, and the poster for the Camp Knife. I don’t recall the details on the difference. I think maybe the short bolster version was the earlier version, but was soon replaced by the longer bolster version - but don’t take that to the bank!
Someone here probably knows the difference.
