Great looking pair of knives Skip! Congrats!New_Windsor_NY wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 3:51 pm My matching pair for today are these PASTOR ALEMAN (German Shepherd), single blade, "007" lock back pocket knives. This knife "brand" is part of the Imperial & Colonial venture in Mexico story/connection. They measure 5 5/8" closed and 10" with the blades open. Click on a picture to ENLARGE.
***** TRIVIA *****
Not this particular knife, but the same style "007 flipper knife" has a morbid place in rock n' roll history. In October 1978, evidently it was a similar "007" style knife that killed Nancy Spungen, girlfriend of Sid Vicious. Sid was a member of the punk music group, the Sex Pistols. Sid supposedly bought the knife on 42nd Street in N.Y.C. He denied killing her, he OD'd before the investigation ended.

Pair of Richards RCMP s, and pair of striped cell. And pair of Imperial Switches ,still in great working condition, considering that they’re cheaper quality construction and prone to failures.
Thanks to all for showing off some of your stuff, take care.

Two Klaas knives in red & black bone. The stockman is 3 1/2" & the copperhead is 3 13/16" long.
Looks like I got one of the darker colored stockman's & one of the lighter colored copperheads.
Have a great Sunday & stay safe everyone!
Thanks for looking friends!

I've recently discovered 1970's era Case medium stockmans (these #18's are a tad shorter than late model 18's, and the hafting is alot slimmer) ... what really drew me to them is the pen blade -->
pffffft that's not a knife ......... now THAT'S a knife !! Crocodile Dundee

What do I think of the Klaas / Aka Robi Klaas / Aka Kissing Crane brands. Well I can tell you what I know. First off, I would compair them to Buck meaning some knives are still being produced in country or in Solingen as far as I know, while others are being produced overseas in China.
The Solingen produced knives are more expensive knives & I don't own any of them yet. I did have one old Kissing Crane Solingen two bladed MOP pen knife that was very nice but it ended up getting traded and now lives in PA.
The made in China Robi Klaas & Kissing Crane knives are a good EDC investment IMO. They sell at around €30 or $35 over here but I have seen them on at least 2 US knife stores for around $20 or so. (I believe AG Russel was one of them) For the price, they are really something else IMO. F&F are well done the handle materials are nice & pretty. I also like the "normal" nail nicks on these better than some other overseas brands. And another thing I like is that they are not stamped with the word China. They have a "Hand crafted in China" sticker on one of the blades but once it's removed, your no longer reminded of it's origin which I choose to forget.
So to sum it all up, I have tried buying old bottom feeder knives, I have tried lower priced brands like Bear & Son, I have tried other overseas brands & I have bought a few, traded a few & just been given a few Case knives. My brand of choice up untill now is Case! They are the nicest knives that I own but they are also the most expensive knives that I own. If I owned some GEC's, Northwoods, S&M's, Canal Street's, Bull Dogs or whatever other higher quality brand knife, I might fall in love with some other brand but at this point & time in my life, Case is the best brand that I know of or own. My favorit "cheap" brand up untill now is the Robi Klass or Kissing Crane knives. Whoever is makeing them is doing a great job.
That's just my honest opinion.
Have a great Sunday everyone,
Tom

Re: Matchng Pairs
Tom ,thanks for feedback. Like what Klass offers, and as you said ,the price is right. Haven’t been inclined to try the new RR s, they seem nice ,good price and feedback. Maybe try a Klass for an excuse to buy a new EDC.
Was looking thru a tray full of old camping knives ,and found this pair of Camillus Campers. One is a short line ,the other is 3 line. For old used knives they’re both solid , tight and all there. They are actually well built for a cheaper knife.
Have a good one, take care.

Re: Matchng Pairs
Camillus made some very good knives. As did Schrade, Quenn, Colonial, Imperial and so on. It's absolutely depressing that I missed out on all these american knife makers while they were still producing knives.
I found this hobby way too late in life.
