Case 5332 With Coined Liners?
Case 5332 With Coined Liners?
Just picked up a XX era Case 5332 stag stockman off of Ebay, decent used condition but what is unusual to me is it has coined or milled liners. I don't remember seeing many vintage Case knives with coined liners or I'm just not noticing.
These are sellers pics, will have to take better ones when shows up, may have to enlarge the one to see the coined liners.

Strange. Not one of my older Case (1940's to 1979) have liners like that. Mine are all solid.

I really like that. I do not think any of mine has it.

Mike, Bob, thanks, I'll have to take better pics when it shows up, it is sure a mystery. I can't see anyone taking it apart just to add coined liners and the knife appears to have been together for quite some time showing consistent pocket wear.

I hope Steve sees this post. If anyone can shed some light on this, he's the guy.

I have a feeling it is an optical illusion created by the photo pixels - note that the "milling" seems to affect the blade back edges as well.
I have seen that on other photos of knives posted online.

I'm thinking you may be right, should know by Saturday.knifeaholic wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 9:01 pm

Re: Case 5332 With Coined Liners?
Mystery solved as knifeholic stated it was the badly pixelated pictures. Bought it to be a carry stag Case XX era and it will make a nice one, still tight and snappy with minor blade loss, lots of life left in it.

Re: Case 5332 With Coined Liners?
The only Case pocket knives that I have ever seen with milled liners are two or three examples of the 47 stockman, very early Tested era or Bradford stamp.
These each only had the milling on the center liner and - this is very odd - only on the inside of the liner where no one can see it. Go figure.
