Was your friend's friend's dad aware that his collection was being sold?
Congrats on a major score of a lifetime.
I would imagine a haul like that might satisfy the collecting urge for a minute.

Garry, Glad you like that Henckels and agree about the quality. What a beautiful knife. I could look at that green bone all day long.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Mon Sep 14, 2020 9:28 pm Thank you all for your comments. Mark, Sharpnshineyknives, observed that it was made to a higher standard than the typical Boker. I agree, As I remarked earlier it is made with exceptional precision. Even a much better runup than the average production. Mark has a very refined "eye" for quality.
You have great taste in knives.

Here is what the Ponder Post Rider brought me today.
Case XX SS USA 9 Dot 1981 White Texas Lockhorn Double Lockback Knife & Pouch.
My youngest son was born in 1981 and has has been looking for several years for
this knife. So when I saw that one of our AAPK members had it, I just couldn't
pass it up. I told my son it's his, but it's going to sit in my collection for just a
little while.

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
I haven’t had my computer for a few days because… Well… I managed to spill a little bit of margarita on the keyboard. Anyway, I’m posting this from my phone, so I hope it works.
I’ve had several new knives come in the last couple of days. This pretty Colonial showed up Monday, as did the Bulldog (from a fellow AAPK member).
I fell for the tortoise shell look on this Böker knife.
And the last two are something completely different, for my “knives from different countries“ collection. The black and gold enameled knife from Sweden is pretty cool, but it’s this 10 inch monster from Israel that is most interesting to me. Can it be anything other than decorative?

Love that Boker and the Israel knife. Maybe they are like Pakistanis, like to carry big. Nice Bulldog too.

Grabbed this Rough Ryder Denim Micarta Work Knife at SMKW for $20.98. I'm still not a fan of RR in general; but, I really can't find anything about this knife that I don't like.

In an effort to brighten my collection I bought this Henkles Stockman: 4 blade, yellow bone. In addition to the standard clip point blade it also has a California clip blade. The blades are perfectly centered, also showing tight runups. No half stops. I believe Boker is the manufacturer.

Some very nice pick ups on here today!
That yellow bone is an attention getter....
I don't have a yellow in my collection yet, maybe I should do something about that
Here's what I got in the mail today, I've got to say, don't know anything about this Fox brand but it's a really nice solid knife!...very impressed.
The old Schrade Walden, and Western 442 for the most part fairly clean, just did some oiling to get them going

B&S drenched in oil, pooling in the wax paper, never seen that before in a GEC product. Guess they don't want them to dry out. Otherwise flawless and as it should be. If anyone wants to trade for a 35 Maher and Grosh Trapper that just came out I'm your huckleberry. PM me and lets dance.
