You seldom see one in that good of condition. Be very, very carefull with those JP. It's a slippery slope. Ask me how I know.

Re: camillus #72
Received this 72 from Ebay today. It is a wood handle two line marked 72 Orvis shield. I know of the Remington wood handle one and one catalogued in 2003 with a wood handle called a #5 and this one. I wonder if this Orvis and the Remington were made in 2003 as well. It is a rough little knife with a lot of rust on the blades and the wood handles a little discolored but proud to find it.

Very nice 72, there Doglegg, they’re about the perfect knife ,as has been said here before. What Was the Orvis shield about? A hardware store or business? Not seen that one ,very nice knife. Thanks for sharing that.doglegg wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 7:09 pm Received this 72 from Ebay today. It is a wood handle two line marked 72 Orvis shield. GREAT find Floyd!
Don't forget to post it in the "72 Clones" thread.

Re: camillus #72
Floyd, the Orvis was 1996 as can be seen in this picture. If your knife were a little "fresher" you could see that on the small clip blade.
Ripster the Orvis is as in the fly fishing tackle Orvis company. If I remember correctly (and there's no guarantee of that) there were (I wanna say) four river names on four different Camillus patterns.
One I could find quickly online was a Camillus Trapper etched "Battenkill 1994" and "Orvis".
Skip, do what you want but I really wouldn't call this a clone. It's more of an advertising knife made for Orvis by Camillus (check the tang stamp). Think the Coke 72's.

Re: camillus #72
I don't consider it a "clone", I consider it a "variation." I made the big mistake of naming that thread "Camillus 72 Clones" instead of Camillus 72 Variations. So I actually referred Floyd to the "correct" thread.

Thanks Tommy, Skip and Jerry. Lots of corrosion on the blades, I'll have to look again for a blade etch. Thanks again.

Mighty fine old bone and sweet little Delrin as well. On the short line I should have said exceptionally fine as well.
