Well, who'da guessed that my resident "Office Gecko" was a knife critic? I was looking through photos of all my stag handled knives and he was sitting in his usual spot atop the monitor waiting for mosquitoes. As soon as I pulled up this Scagel photo he leapt right onto the screen and looked at me as if to say "I like this one!"

:) I took that piece of petrified wood to Division of Geology and Land Survey and they estimated it at over 3 million years old and said it was pine. To be honest I thought at first it might have been a piece of fence post stuck in concrete. I was ready to be laughed out of the place but the Geologists confirmed it was indeed petrified wood. I keep it in my office and thought it might look good with that 72 on it! Thanks Floyd!! Wouldnt it be neat to have a knife handle in petrified wood! Probably just dreaming! :)

I bought it secondhand. Bill is a respected custom maker from Florida although I don’t know a lot about him. The knife has excellent quality and is very sharp. It’s 3 1/16” closed. It appears the handle is from a piece of antique silverware but I can’t confirm that. I’m thankful to still own it. I needed to sell a few things early this year but no matter what I did no one wanted it. Lucky me. It’s a special knife.
Edit: if anyone has an account with or owns past issues of Knife Magazine there is an article/biographical info there.

Took this pic for reference while doing research on boys knives. The reason for posting here is once I viewed it ,i felt like the boy in the pic ,all excited about getting a knife , so thought it warranted posting here.
Nice photos you all been showing, and some nice cutlery. Have a safe one
