It's nice to know that there are others ::handshake:: who appreciate these knives for what they are Sam, fun! ::tu:: As my collecting skills improve and I try to lean more toward the quality knives, I'm still glad that this type is a part of my collection. ::ds:: I've told myself many times "no more cheap stuff", ::huff:: but then I'll spot something new and unusual and the price is so reasonable that I pull the trigger again. ::facepalm:: This urge has quelled itself considerably over time, but every now and again I weaken ::dang:: and jump in, "one more time"! lol! C'est la vie! 8)

I have a few knives that I would consider as sets, 9"+11"/9"+13"/11"+13"/etc., so I thought I'd start posting these. It was no mistake that they're in sets since that was what I had in mind when I bought them. Some were purchased at the same time, and some were purchased weeks or months apart, but my sole intention was to own the set. The knives I'm showing today are undoubtedly built by different companies due to their subtle differences, but they are so close to being the same that I consider them a set. These first 2 are unmarked but are similar to MTechs or Tac-Forces, so those might be the makers. They are 9" and 13" respectively OAL linerlock all-black A/O stilettos/SS bayonet and dagger blades with blood groove on the dagger, SS bolsters liners and screws, what is likely aluminum scale, adjustable pivots, and pocket-clips. They weigh about 3 and 4 oz.'s each, and came with only the bottom edges sharpened. Both knives fire hard and fast with a pull on their flippers, and both lock-up tight with no play. The 13"er came with blue colored bolsters and blade, but the all-black version was 3x the price, so after a couple of "pffsts" of black spray paint it matches it's 9" counterpart perfectly at 1/3 the price. Very inexpensive folders, but solid as the day is long! 8)

I got both of mine here in Canada Sam, so there were no worries about them having the dreaded "flippers" that Customs has seen fit to outlaw! I've seen a bunch of cool knives at Bud K, but I know I'd lose them to Customs so I never order from there. 8)

The last four that you posted are all pretty nice. I am drawn to the black on black ones that you have posted, those have a lot of appeal. Very nice.

Staying along the line of all-black knives, I have these 2 to present today. They bear a strong resemblance to the Pro-Tech "Don" automatic knives, which are currently on my radar for a future purchase, but these are by Black Legion are are manual folders. They're 8"+9" OAL respectively, and were sold as a set. Identical in construction but for the different lengths. I have been seeing these 2 lately with bright colored bolsters and scales, and started thinking to myself "I like these, I should order one" but then I remembered my knives and realized that I already own 2, and, they're in my favorite color, black! Both knives have linerlock closing and are A/O stilettos/SS dagger blades with blood grooves and "BLACK LEGION" etch, SS bolsters liners and screws, aluminum scales, adjustable pivots, and NO pocket-clips. The aluminum scales make for a much lighter knife, with these weighing-in at only 3.5 and 4.5 oz.'s. The top edges of the dagger blades are false, so only the bottom edges arrived sharp. With the application of Q.R. oil these knives snap open via their flippers, and both lock-up solid. The only markings are the B/L etches. Nice inexpensive stilettos! 8)

The 2 knives I'm posting today can certainly be considered a set, because other than the different lengths they're identical. They were purchased months apart but solely to make-up a set. I have no idea who made these knives, and their only markings are a reference to the US Marines. They're 9 1/4" and 11 1/4" respectively from tip to skull-crushers linerlock A/O stilettos/SS black-coated bayonet blades with blood grooves, 2-piece all SS or possibly aluminum construction bodies, SS liners and screws, skull-crushers, and pocket-clips. Both have "USMC" etches on the front cross-cut textured bodies, as well as the Marines logo and "MARINES"/"THE FEW THE PROUD" etches on the front blades. These are extremely thin, slim knives weighing only 3 and 4 oz.'s. each. They open almost as fast as an auto by way of their flippers, and lock tight. Feel really good in-hand! A bit more expensive than the models I've been showing, but still very reasonably priced! 8)

The 4 knives I'm posting today are all very similar in construction with some small variations. In pic #1 is an 8 3/4" OAL Boker "Magnum" linerlock A/O stiletto/440A SS bayonet blade, SS bolsters liners and screws, what appear to be Rosewood scales, adjustable pivot, and pocket-clip. Weighs a hefty 5 oz.'s, fires hard and fast, locks solid, and arrived razor-sharp. Has an encircled "M" as well as "MAGNUM" and "by BOKER" etched on the front blade. If Boker is a US company, my apologies for posting a US made knife in this thread, I had the understanding it's a German company. This is the higher quality piece out of the 4, although the other 3 are pretty well-made. In pic #2 is a 9" OAL Tac-Force linerlock A/O stiletto/SS flat-grind blade, SS bolsters liners and screws, white pearlex scales, adjustable pivot, and pocket-clip. Also a beefy knife at 5 oz.'s that fires smoothly with secure lock-up and came sharp out of the box. There's "TAC-FORCE" etched on the front blade, and, "TACTICAL TF-676 STAINLESS STEEL USA DESIGN" etched on the back blade. In pic #3 is an unmarked 9" OAL linerlock A/O stiletto/SS bayonet blade with tang-extended flipper, SS bolsters liners and screws, black Pakkawood scales, adjustable pivot, and pocket-clip. This one is slightly lighter at 4 oz.'s, and fires just as well as the others, along with tight lock-up and sharp bottom edge. In the bottom picture is a 9" OAL Kriegar linerlock A/O stiletto that has a SS bayonet blade also with a tang-extended flipper, SS bolsters liners and screws, what are likely lighter colored Rosewood scales with stationary false button inlay, adjustable pivot, and pocket-clip. This knife performs like the rest with fast hard opening as well as solid lock-up, and weighs 4 oz.'s. Has "Kriegar" etched on the front tang but is otherwise unmarked. The 2 knives in pics 3 and 4 are so close in construction that I wouldn't be surprised if the unmarked knife in pic 3 is also a Kriegar product, but I don't know for sure. I really don't care for the extended flippers, as I feel they stick out and take away from the otherwise slim profile of the last 2 knives, but, they're extremely effective in opening the knives. Four fine examples of "flip therapy" stilettos! 8)

Thanks Sam! I really don't care for those extended flippers on the last 2 knives, so much so that I considered grinding them off, but the only tool that's available to me is a Dremel, and they are 1/8" thick solid SS flippers, and I don't currently possess enough cutting wheels to do the job, so I've put that project on hold. I thought I'd get accustomed to them, but no such luck, I just don't like em'! 8)

I'm trying to work my way through my inexpensive lower quality stilettos so I can get to some of the better knives I own. These 5 today are basically the same as what I've been posting, but all are different in their own way. My descriptions will be short due to them being similar to each other, so I'll tell the maker, length, and operating type. Top photo is a 9" OAL Tac-Force A/O "Crusader" stiletto. Next, an MTech MT-A317 9" OAL A/O all-black stiletto. Next, an unknown makers 8 1/2" OAL A/O all-SS stiletto. Next, is a Kriegar BK1830 8 3/4" OAL A/O all-black/black+white Pakkawood scales stiletto. And last, is a Tac-Force TF-884CH 9" OAL A/O all-chrome stiletto. Weights vary from 3-5 oz.'s. and they were sharp out of the boxes. All of these knives operate basically the same, opening fast and locking up solid, and all are linerlocks. 8)

You have some very interesting knives in this collection. I like the darker ones, that one w/ the tree rings w/ the black blade is very appealing.

Thank you Sam! I agree, it's kindda gaudy looking. That one was one of the first knives I ordered because I was intrigued with it's design, but it turned out to be a very sturdy knife. All metal construction and the blade flies out silky-smooth when I pull on the flipper. Definitely a conversation piece as opposed to a user. 8)

Thanks Mark! There's an interesting story behind that knife, but I'll condense it by just saying that I had to order it 3 separate times before it finally arrived. Those Pakkawood scales are outstanding in person! 8)

Thanks Garry, my pleasure! They're all US$20.-$40. knives, but I like the different profiles and scale materials, and as it was stated earlier, they're simply "fun" knives. I've got more to post and they improve as far as quality goes, so you might want to continue watching my posts, up to you. Thx again! 8)

I have 4 more unmarked inexpensive folders to post today, and once again I'll only supply limited information. The first knife is an 8 1/2" OAL all-steel frame-lock folder that was sent to me as a gift from a seller for being a good customer. Very solid little knife that has a 4mm thick razor-sharp blade. A definite user. Next is an 8 1/4" OAL all-steel, all-black, slip-joint folder that I bought through ebay and is one sturdy knife. Very inexpensive, only 5/8" thick at the widest point, and would be an ideal EDC. In the 3rd picture is 9 1/4" OAL lockback folder with nice black/white swirl scales. This knife was sent as a replacement for one I'd ordered that was out of stock, and once I had it I found it to be far nicer than what I'd originally ordered. Perfect for anything from opening boxes to cutting fruit. In the final pic is an 8 3/4" lockback folder that I ordered and received from Bulgaria. This is a skinny little knife with a skinny little razor-sharp blade that would virtually disappear once you dropped it in your pocket. This one would be equally at home peeling apples or cutting string. Has very nice Rosewood scales. Not one of these knives has any sort of markings, so their makers are a mystery. 8)

I have these 2 big honk'n monstrosities to post today guys, and I'm sure you all realize they're strictly novelty knives! They're both described as "pocket knives", but I certainly can't see anyone using either as such. In the bottom picture I included the regular sized 8 1/2" counterpart for emphasis. The 1st large model is a Timber Rattler 18" OAL lockback folder/SS clip-point blade with nail-nic,(personally I think this knife would look much better with a spear-point dagger blade)SS bolsters, brass liners and pins, and some sort of burnt wooden scales with engraved ABS inlays. As you can well imagine this knife's blade can be started out of the channel about 25 degrees and then with a firm flick of the wrist opened and locked. The 2nd big knife is also by Timber Rattler and is an 18" OAL lockback as well/SS clip-point blade with nail-nic, SS bolsters, brass liners and pins, and black/white Pakkawood scales. This one also can be flicked open. Both knives have nicely engraved lock-tabs, and weigh-in at about a pound. The only markings are the Timber Rattler stamp, as well as stainless steel and Pakistan stamps. The more reasonable 8 1/2" OAL lockback folder is by Rite Edge and has a SS clip-point blade also with a nail-nic, SS bolsters and liners, brass pins, and black/white Pakkawood scales. It's only markings are a Rite Edge and stainless stamp. With this knife one would likely lose a digit or two when trying to flick it open, since it's backlash is extreme. All 3 came shaving-sharp. These knives produce plenty of "oooos and awwws" when first seen! I suppose a use could be found for this type of knife, although I've yet to think of one, other than for display! 8)

I think those could double as a machete, but I bet they wouldn’t take the abuse a bush knife would have to endure. I’ve never gotten bit by the big knife germ. I don’t collect Bowies or any big bladed knives. The biggest, non kitchen knife, that I had was an A.G. Russell Cattaraugus fixed blade but it was only 12 inches OAL. I ended up selling it because it took up too much room in my display case. Every time I looked in that case it bothered me for some reason I can’t explain.
The smaller one next to that one in the bottom picture really puts those into perspective, wow.

I totally agree Mark, ::handshake:: I doubt either of these big knives would hold up to any kind of even mild abuse. ::td:: They're so big that I didn't consider putting them in with my regular folders in their display pouches, so I hang them on the wall with my fixed blades in the open position. Strictly conversation pieces! I'm happy that my desire for big is pretty much behind me, and the ones I own already have their place in my collection. The smaller knife is very well built, and would make for a good EDC, and it was ideal for showing the size difference! 8)
