Those were inspite of a fogbank covering most of the famous places. Really enjoyed the drive, southern Oregon is worth visiting. From Eugene it was a 12 hour round trip, I hear it's difficult to get a hotel room right now, so if you go bring your own accommodations if you can. Really recommend Humbug Mountain day use site and if the campground is as cool then it would be worth checking out.

From today's walk. Unfortunately the wild pig I heard rooting around and grunting didn't step out into the trail but it was exciting

I'm with dlr110, not a fan of poisonous animals. I'd rather be charged by a coastal brown bear (have been several times) than poisonous snakes, spiders etc.
Haven't been getting out of town much lately so no "in the wild" pictures.

I keep a close eye out for snakes, actually haven't seen a poisonous one this year....knock on wood. What is a Coastal Brown Bear? A Grizzly subspecies?

Quoting since they said it better than me. What they left out is that coastal browns are usually larger than Grizzlies (because of a higher protein diet if I remember correctly) and not as aggressive.

"Is an alaskan brown bear the same as a grizzly?

The difference is regional: bears found inland are referred to as grizzlies, while those on the coasts are known as brown bears. Grizzlies are actually a subspecies of brown bear, Ursus arctos horribilis, found in dense forests, alpine meadows and mountain valleys."

Just got the Waynorth Black Jack so had to do a family pic.
