Some range time today sighting in the new Browning BL22 Grade 1, 22lr. Shoots great, the short throw lever on the Browning is really great. Sighted her in at 50 yards with Win Super X 22lr high velocity hollow points.

The Winchester 61 is a prize! When I was young and living in another part of Florida, I was told the outlaws used the Winchester 61's that were chambered in .22 magnum for their "go to" deer rifle. These rifles were mostly used in conjunction with a "one eyed dog", usually a few hours after legal shooting time had closed. ( "one eyed dog" was the redneck name for the old 6 volt headlights). My uncle had a 61 .22 mag. and sold it for $70 when I was about 14 or 15 years old. I was a little bit displeased with that deal. His selling it probably kept me out of trouble. The 61's .22 LR and .22 mag bring a pretty good price nowadays. I've got a 62 in my pile, it's the one with the exposed hammer.

Somewhere in the U.S. there is a sporting goods or a hardware store that has a set of these on the shelf, I hoping someone here might see them and recall that I'm looking for them.

Just guessing I would say it looks like military round, 30/06 and the 51 on the head stamp probably was the year of manufacture.

Scott, FWIW I searched online for “WRA 51 headstamp” and found this on a cartridge collector web site:
A true explosive round was developed by Winchester for the U.S. Government in 1940. This is called the Pomeroy after the guy who patented the design. The nitroglycerine explosive element is enclosed in a copper tube in the bullet nose and activated by the bullet rotation concentrating it against the side of the tube. It was loaded on cases headstamped W.R.A. .30-,06. While they were supposed to have a green tip, this seems to come off easily and most have no visible signs to identify them - they look like a normal copper-tubed hunting bullet.
In the late 1940s Frankford Arsenal and Winchester again experimented with an observation bullet identified by a yellow tip and this was the T99 Observing. This is most often found with a WRA 51 headstamp.
However this implies it was a .30 caliber cartridge. From your picture the one you have appears to be larger, probably .50 caliber as others have said.

It not only "looks like" a .50 Cal, it is a .50 Cal.
For comparison, here are some pictures of a .50 Cal. cartridge I "acquired" someplace far, far away. The smaller cartridge is 7.62x51 (.308) I took out of one of my M-14 magazines. Fired the primer with a soldering iron.

That’s awesome, and some good shootin’! The boys and I love shooting .22s in the back field too.
What’s the left handed bolt gun? My middle boy is wrong handed. When he was ready for a 22 we got him a Savage MKII youth model (it’s just barely youth sized). It’s a good one, but I have to hold it upside down to run it. lol.

Heading out to the range again today.
Ya know, it's probably a good thing for my wallet I can't step out my backdoor and shoot whenever I want! Remembering the hours and rounds I used to put through my Daisy Red Rider as a kid (yup, out the backdoor and shoot), if I was able to do that today, I'd go broke buying ammo.
