I picked up a CASE trapper on eBay with the exotic lapis handle.
It looks like the factory kind of leaned on the buffer pretty hard.
The blue lapis shows buffing lines that can be felt quite easily and the flecks of fools gold stick up like burrs.
A guy at work (now he tells me!) says he saw one at a gun show and it was the same way.
Anybody else run across this?
More importantly, anybody know if this can be corrected by either Case or maybe our own muskrat man?
It's a pretty knife otherwise but the seemingly sloppy handle job is kind of discouraging.
Thanks so much in advance.
Tom

Re: CASE Exotic Lapis
recon stone is bad about buffing down if one is not real careful. if case buffed others in a similar manner then I would assume it's just the factory process. You can try sending it back to case and if that don't remedy it gimme a holler.

Re: CASE Exotic Lapis
I have a Lapis Russlock. It is the same way but I think it is because that the Fools gold flakes are much harder than the Lapis itsself all I have seen you can feel it stick up a little.

Hey BigHead
Thanks for the additional info.
I was afraid of that!
A shame cause it is a pretty knife otherwise. Look at that beautiful Russlock.
(Oh yeah, I guess you have looked at it!)
The lapis in the new patriotic doesn't have the pyrite or whatever it is.
Did Case learn a hard lesson maybe?
Thanks again.
