Makeover of the Queen

Somebody was talking about getting a renewed enthusiasm for knife collecting when they found a handful of things at the flea market. I got a renewed enthusiasm for knife restoration when I found this Queen fixed blade that I had purchased probably about 2005. I forgot about it! I wasn't doing restoration work at that time so I stuck it in a box of other fixed blade knives and just happen to be going through that box last week and found it.
I was never fond of the synthetic Winterbottom bone handles that Queen used after they discontinued the Winterbottom bone. This aluminum pommel had been dinged up as if someone was using it for a hammer.
It was badly scratched on the blade, guard and pommel and it didn't have a sheath to call its own.

According to the information I have on Queen tang stamps is that this stamp was used between 1958 and 1960.

I used nectarine CSB, from Culpepper on the handles and did quite a bit of hand sanding to get this to look good. It's almost finished, I took the pictures before I did the final polish so I'll have to polish it tomorrow and reshoot the pictures. The sheath is one I bought at a show but it fits this knife perfect and hang in a real tight.

And I have some before pictures that I hope to eventually find and put in here, but the finding is the hard part.

Great choice of bone (I thought it might be ACSB until I read your description); so much nicer than Delrin Winterbottom. Excellent resto mod.
