That GEC/Schrade is quite a looker! And I like that green coffee mug too!

Thanks, the mug is a jadeite Fire King “D” handle made in the 40’s.

That's what I suspected! Very nice.

My old 10 dot 61048 got the nod again today. Case made good knives in the 70's. Love the slimness and how the blade sits so flush with the spring. I think I said that right! :)

Nice one! Back when I started to learn to cook, I bought a bunch of old cookware; mostly vintage Pyrex pieces from junk stores, but some of it was Fire King--basically, if it said Made in USA, I took it to the counter and bought it. I've been meaning to pick myself up an older coffee mug. Tired of picking between rooster, or Raggedy Ann and Andy. A (at the time) local fire apparatus manufacturer, American LaFrance, had one with "AMERICAN LAFRANCE: A FIGGIE INTERNATIONAL COMPANY BLUEFIELD, VA" written on it, but I've never seen any offered for sale. A local deli owner has one, given to her by the employees way back then (1986-1994), and that's the only one I've seen, and the reason I know they exist. But, many truck manufacturers, fire apparatus makers, and towing equipment manufacturers, among others, have lots of pretty neat options on their merchandise sites. While all the secondhand shops aren't really open thanks to COVID, there's always the various online options.

Schrade USA 96OT. Found cheaply used; but not abused. All scale tools are original. I normally don't do full-sized Trappers, but am really liking this one. Scale tools are far higher quality than what SAKs come with. Excellent quality tweezers, and a very nifty steel "Field Pick" for digging out thistles alongside the tweezers, sewing, poking small holes, etc. In fact, I used the pick a couple times today.
