I have a 1992 Case XX Trapper
Rosewood handle
Tang Stamp matches the 1990-1993 stamp on Case's website. Year is 1992
Model is 7254 SS
Blade 1: Clip Blade
Blade 2: Spey Blade
Bolster has 004 stamped on it.
Both blades have University of Louisville logos on them.
The box it comes in is metal and the inside molded form to hold the knife has a placard that reads
W.R. Case & Sons
(case logo)
Collector Series
Any idea what it might be worth? It's mint condition. As far as I know the only time it's been out of it's box was to check the tang stamp.

Re: Case Trapper 1992
Thanks! I'm just getting started into the collecting thing... my boss had this one and found it behind a desk when he moved it to have new carpet installed. He just gave it to me as he's not a University of Louisville fan.
Any idea what the number on the bolster might mean? I've been unable to find out about that marking.

Your knife is part of a limited production run by Case for that special blade etch and packaging. They frequently put sequential numbers on the bolsters of these limited offerings. Some collectors value the lower numbers more.

Thanks philco!
Couldn't help but notice your location. I would imagine a UofL knife would be just about worthless to you.
Here's a picture of it.

Re: Case Trapper 1992
I know a few poor misguided souls who might find it desirable, though darned if I can understand why.
Guess it would make a pretty fair target for sighting in my deer rifle or a gag gift at the office Christmas party. I think your boss must be a U.K. fan like I am!
By the way, welcome to the site. Hope you enjoy your new found hobby. All kidding aside, that knife is a nice start for a collection. Case makes a lot of special runs on trappers and you could put together a really cool collection with a few of them.
