Another Ball in a Cage

Post by keithlong »

Here is my second Ball in a Cage. It is whittled out of basswood. The first one was out of 1 1/2 inch square stock. This one is out of 3/4 inch square stock. Hope you enjoy it.

Nicely done, Keith. You're really pumpin' those out. Do you usually use one knife in particular throughout, or do you find yourself switching back and forth between a couple of different knives?

Keep up the great job. ::tu::

Hey Don,
Good to hear from you my friend. I used just one pocket knife on it. I am wanting to get into something a little kore challenging though. Are you carving anything now? If so let us see it.

That's great Keith, I usually end up using a few different blade types throughout, mostly so I can tell my wife I NEED more knives. Unfortunately, I have been extremely busy lately, and have not had alot of time to carve. Hoping that will change soon. I will try to carve something and post it, time willing. Look forward to seeing more of your projects. ::tu::

Happy Carvin'

Well, these aren't new, other than the bases I placed them on...I entered these guys in the 2008 National Caricature Carving Competition and was flabbergasted to get them back with two ribbons enclosed   I received Fourth and Fifth place in the rough-out category (designs other than my own.) Hmmmm...maybe only 5 people entered ::hmm::
