I am not a big fan of Chinese Schrades, and avoid them completely, unless they are dirt cheap; or the only thing close to a knife any place carries (and the hardware stores, as of late around here, are starting to replace Case with Chinese Schrades). I swapped out to my shorts midway in helping a family friend redo the waterline to the house. I didn't have a knife (as all my gear was in my jeans) on me then, but remembered I'd left in the basement when I drew it from my junk box sharpening it up. The work I was doing really filled the Spyderco clipped to my pocket full of dirt and especially grit, despite it not being used much at all. Thus, cheapos and beaters I don't mind wrecking. While this is one of the better China-made Schrades I've owned, it's still not close to my 34OT. I've got a USA 834UH in the mailbox. I was so busy today, I didn't get to pick it up (mailbox is a half-mile from the house). The big thing--steel is obviously softer. And the shields fall out constantly.
