The way the color difference was on the hafting, I was expecting a name like Sunset or Flame Orange. I can think of at least a half-dozen more creative names for Orange (personally, I call that one "Creamsicle"), but the only ones I've ever seen Case use are "Persimmon" and "Sunset" (at least those are the only ones other than "Orange" that I can remember off the top of my head).Papa Bones wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 7:48 pm The way the color difference was on the hafting, I was expecting a name like Sunset or Flame Orange. I think Case has more names for Blue handles than for any other color.

07W SALE ALERT!!!
If any 07 collectors out there are interested...Here's a "Tested Red" 6207W currently up for auction on eBay:

Of all the Red 07s in my collection I think "Tested Red" is my favorite. But, since I already have one, I'll let someone else have a go at it (despite the Monkey's hysterical screeching that he wants another one

Re: Ode To The 07
That sure is a fat little chunk-o-stag. I'm glad you like it, jerryd. Always nice to add a new tang stamp to the Mini-T collection, too.
Mini-T Monkey was less fortunate in his new acquisitions. I found a Rough Rider (a brand I normally avoid) that was appealing enough for me to overcome my aversion and pony up the princely sum of $17.95. Unfortunately, the seller had incorrectly described it as being 3½" when in fact it was a full-size 4 1/8" trapper. I debated whether it was even worth the hassle of returning until I happened to find the exact same knife for $9.99 from a different seller which helped make my decision to return it much easier. Although I liked the knife (cosmetically), the two strikes against it (wrong size, wrong price) sealed its fate. Hopefully I'll fare better with the VG-10 Rough Ryder that I'm still waiting on (is it just me or has anyone else noticed a considerable slowing down of USPS delivery speed lately?

Re: Ode To The 07
It is not just you. I can be a little impatient so I keep an eye on how fast a seller gets a knife in the hands of the USPS (printing out a shipping label then sitting on it for three or four days does not count as the item having been shipped) and I pay attention to the USPS tracking. I notice when a package sits in one location for three days. I notice when a package goes west just to go east. I also notice when the package only takes three days to get here and that has become my gold standard. IMHO - Over the past three to four months the USPS shipping has slowed down markedly (not in all cases).

Re: Ode To The 07
Since I own one it's time to refresh my memory of Battle Axe Trappers. When I bought my 4 1/8" Battle Axe Trapper I researched it enough to have no doubt that it actually is a Queen #19. A hardware store (Shapley's?) imported Battle Axe pocket knives from Germany. The final year or two of good quality Battle Axe pocket knives were made by Queen. While I do not see made in the USA on Jerry's I suspect that his is a Queen #51. Most German stag is not sanded down flush with the bolsters in American style. Usually there is an abrupt step down from the bark before the stag meets the bolster. Jerry's stag looks like Queen's stag. I have a Queen Copperhead with stag just as fat. It is half of a serial numbered set. The other has pearl sides. What a contrast in thickness!
Super fat stag is great on roughly 5" single blade folders that other wise feel too thin in my hand. I always carry them in pouches so for me there's no benefit in them being slim. Super fat stag on a 3 1/2" pocket knife does not seem logical to me but I like my fat Queen Copperhead anyway. I could carry it in a Swiss Army Knife pouch but It's still as new and part of a set so I'm keeping it as a collectable.
On the other topic, USPS shipping time, go easy on them. Some of their packages travel in the baggage compartments of commercial air lines which have drastically reduced passenger travel. It is rumored that some of the flights we read about that have only a few passengers are only in the air to full fill USPS contracts. That can't continue. The air lines would go broke. Some of my packages have not been scanned on arrival and departure of the facilities they pass through like they used to be. My last knife was not scanned between arrival at its origin center and arrival at my post office. Less handling is less potential exposure to the virus for employees. The knife arrived on time so I forgive them for not scanning it.

I've always liked the Olive Green Bone, and I think the cigar band with the 70s era date stamp really dresses it up and gives it a spit-n-polish degree of elegance. Nice pick up, jerryd (congratulations on surviving the agonizing back order period, too!)
For comparison, here's my un-banded Olive Green 07:
