I have never seen a coyote, it looks too big for a fox, or an Australian fox anyway. We used to to go spot lighting for foxes, and on the posted photo the reflection of the eyes looks too big for a fox. Do not know if this helps. Have a good week everyone.

Treefarmer - I would say coyote. Or maybe a small chupacabra?

Here are a couple of photos of a local marsupial. On her 1st trip she had a pair of young'uns hanging on to her back and I assume she was moving the brood. On this trip she was going down my back fence on a return trip to her nest and I assume she had more of her young to relocate.
If I remember correctly the 'possum is the only marsupial we have in North America.

You are correct, Ray. Since we only have one marsupial, we are sure lucky to have such a beautiful species!!

Those are good pictures, Ray, especially the one with the sun shining through her ear! Those critters are very useful in controlling the tick population. The last year or so I learned how many ticks that are responsible for eating annually. That number elevated them from pest to a useful critter!

Thanks Mel and Phil. I guess I'd just as soon that they didn't get too comfortable in my back yard but if they get to be a problem, I'll relocate them.

Possums are everywhere over here, they have adapted to suburban living very well, and do not worry about them making themselves at home in your backyard. Ours have gone upmarket, their residence of choice is in your roof.

Cudgee - at least some of y'all's possums are pretty. I have always thought it was very unfair that we have only one marsupial and it is right next to a rat when it come to attractiveness.

Possums come to my garden whenever there is food. In the winter when I feed the birds they are here pretty much every night rooting for sunflower seeds under the feeder. I have a couple of dwarf persimmon trees. I get almost no persimmons to eat. I think that persimmons are possums number one favorite food.

Jeez! I will put a contract out on their lives if that should happen. A bounty maybe!

There’s currently a contract out on every possum I see here. They like to get into the hay in the barn and mess all in it spreading all manner of diseases, especially to horses.

My boy caught several this past winter coming to eat the bait in his coon traps. And I must say that the Lord called each and every one of them home in a very quick manner.
