I did a search on "congress patterned knives" on Google and it referred me back to AAPK to a thread called "Ruminations on the Congress PatternQuick Steel wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 8:59 pm Phil, while I have a few Congresses that pattern has never been a big draw for me either. Yet they have retained their popularity as a basic pattern for a long time.

So pick a pattern, start a thread and see where it goes. Don't be shy.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Sat Jul 11, 2020 2:41 am Phil, I remember that thread very well. Lots of interesting opinions and thoughts. I wonder if it would be practical to try something similar, maybe a series e.g. Discuss the Trapper, Discuss the Whittler, etc. Members could share why they like and use a pattern or, on the contrary, why a pattern does not appeal.
While I enjoy looking at photos of members' knives, discovering their thoughts or personal reactions to knives is enlightening and interesting to me. In other words, sharing one's experience of a pattern or even of a particular knife.
Now THAT'S pretty!!

AMEN to that.

I've anecdotally observed that, for new Bokers, the more ostentatious the box, the lower-quality the build of the knife.
