No other knife guys showed at the auction with 100 fixed and 100 folders up for grabs. I got my pick and hauled away these; Pic 1, 3 Kissing Cranes, a Cam. 3 line camper, a J.Primble, two Case knives and a G96. Pic 2;Case stag, MSA (only one of these I've ever snagged, a LF&C Bowie hunter, an Ideal kids knife and a Remington. Pic3 Remington, Pal, Finish hunter. Pic 4 AIDACO (no clue what thie is), a Western boot knife, and a Mora Swedish knife. I left the rest for the non knife guys and kids. Masks were required but very few wore them.____Dave
Great find Dave. It is hard to find any definitive information on those AIDACO knives. The company who produced those, produced several variations, some were Fighting knife configuration, some with saw backs, and even a Bayonet has shown up under that name. These knifes have popped up on several of the old Surplus Military Rifle Forums, and some of the Military Blade forums. There have been adds found with them listed and I have a photo of one that shows a sales listing from 1946. During WW-II there was a knife drive for the Marines because they did not have a steady inventory of bayonets and fighting knives. Life magazine started a knife drive asking civilians to send a knife to servicemen overseas. People were buying and sending non-contract knives to servicemen to fill in the gap. Life Magazine had published a photo of a Marine carrying a EG Waterman knife that was one of the knives sent over. So there is speculation that it is possible the AIDACO knives may have been a company who was producing low cost hunting / fighting knives that wound up being sent overseas to soldiers. Then there is the speculation that it was a company that was cashing in on the "Military Fighting Knife" and "Bayonet" popularity that came near the end and shortly after WW-II. Although some say that idea is suspect. The only thing that is definite is, the knives were made by a company and branded AIDACO.

Thanks Papa Bones for the information. I was just trying to look the AIDACO on line and got nowhere except for a guy in the same boat as me back in 2007. Al least I know they go back a ways and it wasn't made last year in a garage down the road from me.____Dave

From the inter-web...no other information. Could not find anything to corroborate the below info, or if they ever made knives.
AIDA (pronounced: 'eye da') Co. was a metal forming company located in Dayton Ohio, and today is a global company known as AIDA Engineering. It appears to be a Japan based company, albeit, there are several factories in the USA and Europe.

This just in from Triple F. This big old Maher Grosh is going to work today after I put an edge on her. The other tool is a Stanley No.59 doweling jig for joining boards like in rocking chairs and cabinets. It's missing the accessories.____Dave

Read your comment Tony, just had to check it out. Scott's spot is 267 miles north of you and that sweet spot is 307 miles south of our place. I guess that puts him almost in the middle as far as Floridians go.
