I have a number of the old style 6207's (CV steel, clip and pen blades, bone handles) listed in my Ebay store.

I recently had someone message me through one of the listings (listing was for a 3 dot 1977 6207 with bone handles).

His message was as follows:

STEVE, YOU"RE a knife guy, so I don't think you will mind me bending your ear for a moment with a knife story. Here goes. I am 79 years old, used and collected knives since a boy 70+ years. I bought a 6207,old type of course, in 1957 0r 1958.at age 16 or 17. I dressed out lots of squirrels, carried it to school, used as a farm boy would. Eventually lost it. I went into the Army 1964 to 1967 came home. My mother told me that she had found a knife She thought was mine. She had put it in an olive jar with kerosene. That was it. I eventually started to mess with it and got the blades to open.. used pliers very very carefully. they were rusted extremely bad. Not useable but still about 80 % there. Opens and snapS unbelievably well. I hope to have it till i die, then to my son and grandson. that is the story. Now I want to buy one to carry. just make me an offer of what you have to have for this 1977. I know a XX will be too high. I see what I can do. thanks for allowing me to share this part of my life.

Such a great story...I picked out a used XX 6207 red bone that would make a good EDC knife, and put it in my store just for him at a low price (I put it out at a high price but set it up to accept a low offer from him).

He of course bought it so now he has the right EDC knife that will remind him of his long lost and then found favorite 6207.

And seeing how you are a respected authority on vintage Case knives...perhaps you could provide an answer to the question that was posted by Modern Slip Joints awhile back regarding the introduction of the 07 pattern? (Obviously I collect more modern 07s with an emphasis on 07Ws...but I, too, am curious.)

I seldom look at old Case knives but that is the only long pull 07 that I can recall. It was quite the find. It did get me wondering how far back the 07 pattern goes. While your 1207 centennial implies 1895 we know Case's trapper was the 3 7/8" 007 until it was superseded by the 54 in 1915. The research section here writes 07 have been a regular in the product line since the 1930s it does not give and introduction date. Some where I got the idea that the 07 and 54 were introduced together but I do not recall where I read that or how I got the idea. Were there 07s before the tested era?

At long last, the elusive Green Bone Serrated Wharncliffe 1st ISSUE 207WHSS has arrived.

Although I am neither patient nor wealthy, it took me a long time and an embarrassing amount of moolah to collect all ten 1st ISSUE 207WHSS Wharncliffe Mini Trappers. But, it was worth the wait and every penny, if I do say so myself!

Added a couple more to my 07W pile this week.

I just can't seem to resist these Sawcut Bone 07Ws; I now have more of them in my collection than any other 07 model.

Did you keep the tin from your Hometown Heros? I try to keep everything that comes with them. That sawcut bone is very attractive. Looks like you are cornering the market on them. Are they all the same year?

Oh yes...I always save EVERYTHING, the tin box (with cardboard sleeve), the COA, and the little suede pocket slip--which, to be honest, I've never had much use for (other than to ship other knives in that I sell).

My Sawcut 07Ws are from 2012 (x2) and 2014 (x2)

That's a mighty purty Bright Green "End of Decade" commemorative 07. Normally I don't like blade etching, but I actually do like the blade etch on that one, as well as the gold letter etch on the mark side scale. With so few made I'm guessing there probably won't be too many showing up on the secondary market. Good to snag one while you still could, jerryd; it's destined to become a rare collector item, I would imagine.

Speaking of scarce 07 models...The 5107W seems to also fall into that category. I feel quite fortunate to have found a second one (dated 2013) to partner with my 2011 original. Because of the chrome vanadium steel I have to keep them slathered with a thick coat of Ren Wax (which I applied immediately after the photo shoot).

Interesting to note the difference in stag thickness between the different year models; the 2011 is much thicker. The blades on both models are about as far from being centered as possible without rubbing the liners.

The "End of Decade" knives were (I believe, no proof) an SFO for Shepherd Hills and came in three color handles. Brown which disappeared from stock rather quickly, Green which although being labeled as "only 40 made", has lingered and white which doesn't seem to be getting any love. The brown one tripped my trigger but I dallied too long and of course now they're all taken. I added one to my pile because I think their kind of nifty.

As for your 5107W's............ W O W !!!!!

Well, my 2002 6107w came in the mail today. Very pleased with it and Froggy Approves!! But now I'm wondering, what other scales & colors you can find the 6107w in,besides the yellow synthetic and red? Time for more research.
