Help please....
Help please....
Hey all,
New to the site, but hoping for good things. I have the following request:
I have a Browning folding tactical, which has a few screws that are coming loose. I have looked for a star torque driver for the screws, but can't find any in the right size. Was curious if this is a special tool for watch/jewelry repairmen? Any advise on where to pick one up, store or internet?
This not the first time that I have had a knife do so, but the older knife was a generic p.o.s., the Browning is a bit better in quality so I would like to tighten it up.
Thanks for your time.

Re: Help please....
Sears has Torx drivers and bits, & you can find them at most tool stores.
I bougnt one nice set of security bits at a knife show for about $20.
They are out there. You just have to look a bit to find them.

Dale,
Thanks, I guess that I haven't been too vigilant when I go to the hardware store. It usually slips my mind when I am there shopping for other projects. Then I remember after I am already heading home.
Thanks I will look today.
Cool

Re: Help please....
Home Depot also carries these small bits in a mini-screwdriver. Sizes from T-15 down to T-4

Thanks Glenn.
I hadn't looked there. I would suspect that Lowe's has them also if HD does.

Re: Help please....
Hey all,
Thanks for all the help. I found some at Sears. I went to Lowes first and no luck.
It was a search though, I went to 4 different areas of the tool section before I found what I needed.
Thanks again,

JJFire Welcome to AAPK.
Your problem is also mine. I took the knife with me to buy a tool to tighten the screws. Snap-on and Mack tools did not have one to fit. The knife I gave to my son to use. Its an Uzi Defender ZF0011BKNB Aluminum Linelock Black 440 SS 4 1/4". He for got to remove it from his pocket when he washed his pants. 3 screws and nuts lost now. So I gave him one more cuz he liked it so much.
After 3 weeks he lost 2 screws and nuts from that one. I now have him useing a fixed blade knife...
Now where to get the same screws and nuts to repair the Uzi?? The company is out of bussiness.

Re: Help please....
i would suggest locktite. no amount of tightening will keep a fussie screw in place.
Re: Help please....
orvet thank you I will.
Now how do I know what size to get ?
They are so small my thread gage does not go on the treads.
I have not found the right wrench for the head to tell what I need.
gringo Thanks too. but locktite will only work if you have the screw and nut....

Re: Help please....
Just take your knife to your local hardware store and size the screws there. Maybe 4-40? You can also find the right length - doesn't mean you have to buy them there though.

Re: Help please....
Thanks Hukk.
Let me try this again.
The factory screw and nut are gone with the round tulb like spacer. The spacer keeps the knife working and the handles apart. I would like to just find a place to buy the factory parts from.
I think that some are being made now in china. Not sure of that but I see lots of Uizs for sale on ebay now.
